it starts off with 3 purple aliens-a priest/political leader, a worker and a warrior-esque alien, and you have to build a cathedral and pub to recruit more aliens to help you gather resources.I know it was really big on gathering resources. i think it was pre-2000. Any help would be sweet

I think I remember this. Is it masters of Orion?
I remember you could make a ship that was blatantly a Death Star, and there were three distinct alien races. Also in the second one (link above) there was a fourth race from another dimension that attacked sporadically through warp gates.

Upon retrospect, I think I am very wrong and have a faulty memory. I'll keep pondering on it.

No, from what I can remember, it had nothing to do with invading EARTH.

Outpost?

I am not 100% this is the game you are thinking of, but I used to really love Outpost back then either way. Was a really great space colonization game.

Advanced 2 bit? Maybe you were playing M.U.L.E.

It looks like Baldurs Gate 2 graphics. I remember that I didnt have the physical game, but a demo disc with this game on it. The characters were purple man torso/snake lower torso thing and I think a picture of one might have been on the cover of the game. The characters were stranded in the game on a singular planet in the demo, so there was no space exploration in the gameplay as far as i know. Wish I could remember more.

Sounds somewhat like Startopia. Though that's 2001 and you colonize a space station. On the other hand, you build cathedrals and pubs and hotels and stuff in it, so.

Basically the whole point of the pubs and cathedral was to recruit more workers and mercenaries, and build up resources and eventually take out another village of aliens before the game moves you on to another area. I shouldn't say you colonize, but you have to build these structures to further your army/village of purple space slug-esque things. It was a RTS game.
