Is the Game Awards replacing the VGA's?

Like the topic says. With The Game Awards coming tomorrow, I'm assuming it is going to be like the VGAs where there are a bunch of new trailers and announcements along with actual awards, but does this also mean there won't be any VGAs?

Kind of maybe? Spike haven't officially commented on having a VGA's this year.

Spike dropped the VGAs, or VGX as they renamed them last year, and Keighley went on to do his own awards. So yes, kind of.

The VGAs are dead without Geoff Keighley, even before Spike dropped it. Good luck to him, I expect The Game Awards to be a much better show.

Nah, the awards themselves will be referred to as Keighleys, kinda the way Academy Awards are called Oscars.

@phili151: Good or bad, (usually bad) I always watched the VGA's, when they were super bad they were entertaining to make fun of, when they were good it was surprisingly pleasant (Red Deads theme played live) and man, man, those trailer dumps, if you hated everything about it, at least you had those trailer dumps.
Geoff seems like a good guy in general, and it was always my hope that whenever a golden nugget shined through the turd of the VGA's that it was his doing, fighting back against the producers or whoever wrecking it with their "you know what kids and gamers these days love? A bunch of bullshit!"
So I have reserved but optimistic hope that it'll be good and I'll give it a shot.
