And people are wondering why Nintendo doesn't make new games or change their formula.

I am never not fascinated by figures like these. I mean, a DS game was #1. Not even a 3DS game, a DS game.

Dragon Quest X isn't as high as I would have expected.

Eh? That's not really surprising, there's way more DS units out there and it's Pokemon.

They're able to reap the profits from those with either a DS or 3DS. So many potential customers.

Because of strong sales in Japan? Nintendo are killing it everywhere.

The second part sounds like surprise to me.

Shesh, the only I would generally recommend is Pro Evo but even then I would only if I knew they were a fan.

Yeah guys, people from other parts of the world like different stuff than us. How do you think we look when they look at western charts and see nothing but shooters and football?

That seems like a really strong showing for Dragon's Dogma, considering it was a new IP. Glad to see it doing well.

Maybe I need to brush up on my Dragon Quest history, but has the Monsters spin off games always sold better than installments in the main series? Dragon Quest X's numbers seem low.

Seems like Japan's opinion of the 3DS is way different than ours, considering how much software it is selling.

Not surprised that the top 5 games are all Japanese made games, I bet the same goes for the US region with western titles occupying the top spots. When will Nintendo get their act together and release a proper Pokemon RPG for the Wii U, they could launch that console to the moon with the sales figures that would follow it.

Hey, a new Dragon Quest Monsters game! Hope it comes to America, the ds games were a lot of fun.

But on a serious note, I don't get why anyone would be irritated with this list. You'd think the list was filled with dating sims or something. Popular franchises sell high numbers, film at eleven.

Next up, popular movie does well at box office.

This list is almost completely alien to me. I think I played Mario Kart 7 at a kiosk somewhere, maybe, memory's a little hazy.

Then again, it's a culture I will never understand, in a country I will never visit. . .

I find it crazy that the PSP has apparently outsold everything except the PS2 and I'm going to assume the DS as well.

The pokemon thing still baffles me. Isn't the pokemon thing like fifteen years old, by now? How do they keep suckering new generations of kids into it every year? They must be on like... their second or third generation of kids, by now?

One Piece is the best dynasty warriors type game i played in years. Although there is zero point in playing it if you haven't seen the anime. It's low impact gaming at it's best.

Franchises get older, but kids stay the same age.

Actually I have a friend who works at a daycare, and he once told me how seeing the kids there also growing up with and talking about Pokemon was a really weird feeling, and they thought that it was equally weird when he told them he had also played it as a kid.

Also the games are pretty good and kid friendly, way better than a lot of stuff I played and liked as a kid, so there's that.
