Mario 2 is the best Mario Game, and here's why (Blog post)

I don't follow the masses when it comes to the "Best Mario" game. I actually consider Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins for the Gameboy better than Super Mario World, & Mario 3 is also better than Super Mario World. 
 
But the best of the best has to go to Mario 2 (US Version). It may be a reskined Doki Doki Panic, but damn did they deliver on great music, level design, character attributes, & graphics.

Whilst Super Mario Land 2 is pretty damn awesome as far as Mario games go...

(Mario 3 is not better than SMW though, sorry. And IMO SMW is the best overall.)

Each their own. I have the best memories of playing SMB, SMB 3, and Super Mario World. Was never a fan of 2.

The best Mario game is Wario Land for VirtualBoy.
