Hi people!
Just wanted to share my latest geek-craft project. Yes, the concept has been done before but I wanted to put my own spin on it.
My NES-Guitar Project
@mracoon: thanks! it came together surprisingly fast! i had a rough build going after just a few hours one day and then spent a good day and a half on it this past weekend.
i sort of just went for it and luckily i had no problems
Ha! Nice!
So I imagine you mostly play it standing up then, not exactly the best shape for resting on your leg. How is the neck mounted? What's the button? Split the pickup? Bypass volume/tone?
I guess most important question, how does it sound? It's a passive pickup, right?
no its actually more comfortable to play sitting than it appears! actually tilted up snug between the legs ala flying v sitting technique is not bad at all.
the neck is still mounted to the original body but the body was cut down as much as possible.
the button is a momentary volume killswitch. i was originally going to make the reset button a killswitch but unfortunately its the opposite kind or switch needed. it is naturally off and i needed a naturally on switch. instead of wasting more time with that i scrapped the idea but i can change that anytime. it is much more useful closer to the strings and it looks like a controller button.
i thought of making the power button actually a boost and the pickup is not split but i did think about it. i read that this particular pickup sounds awful split.
a lot of unrealized ideas but in all honesty, i wanted it finished sooner than later and im super happy with it as it is!
I feel like this would be best if it didn't require cannibalizing the NES, still cool though.
take comfort in knowing it was DEAD. no fixing it so i recycled!
Could you make a Famicom bass?
sure i could...but it looks like im going after my c64 next
@themanwithnoplan: why thank you!
That's awesome! Now make my SNES into a drum kit.
ok but i get to keep it deal? ok deal.
Looks awesome! You should totally put floyd rose on that.
that would be so much hassle
ive got more guitars being donated by friends and i have quite a few consoles to choose from. which should i make next?
c64 bass?
ps1/ps2 guitar/bass
genesis guitar/bass
it was cool being in the community spotlight for the first time. i hope all this fame doesnt go to my head....
a lot of people ask me why im not mass producing....well simply put....that's not what i'm after. besides theres already some dude out there that does that for $200+ a pop
i just like making cool stuff for personal satisfaction :D
