I'm not completely new to rpgs and I've always been into action rpgs but was considering jumping into a deeper rpg with maybe a little strategy involved. I was looking at the witcher enhanced edition or dragon age origins. Can anyone steer me toward one or the other? Previous rpgs (or games that are loosely considered) I've played and liked are torchlight, oblivion, fallout 3, diablo, baldurs gate dark alliance, world of warcraft, ff7
Need some help picking my next pc rpg.
If you want something a little more recent, Dragon Age is the way to go, although I have heard good things about The Witcher as well. If you want something a little more user friendly, go Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (the first one, mind you) It's not super complex, but the story is excellent and the mechanics are such that they will help you ease into other, more complicated CRPGs. And it's $10 on Steam.
If you want to go old school, go straight for anything in the Infinity Engine catalog, although none of them are especially newbie-friendly. The first two Fallout games aren't terrible either, whatever issues I personally may have with their design.
" The Witcher or Planescape: Torment is the correct choice. "you just named two best rpgs ever.
Duuuuuuuuuuuude Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines is the best WRPG there is. Although if you're looking for something more traditional you should try the Baldur's Gate or Fallout games.
the dragon age. the combat in the witcher kind of sucks in my opinion. whatever you do, don't get neverwinter nights 2, that is the world's clunkiest and buggiest game, despite the fact that it has a great story.
oh wait i just remembered the deluxe edition of dragon age is coming out soon, that comes with all the dlc and the expansion. that is the way to go.
