All in all I think the new design looks great. The font seems to be a bit unclear at smaller sizes (e.g. the sidebar), but apart from that it all looks very slick.
Although the one thing I wish the new design would have brought with it would be a working search result page...It's a damn shame the search function is still exclusively AJAX-based, meaning it is impossible to make Quick Searches for one's browser without the help of extensions or other third party creations... Though it's not as big a deal for GiantBomb, when I'm watching a movie I certainly prefer typing "screened <moviename>" into my address bar and directly ending up at the page and/or a page of search results instead of having to go through screened.com. Especially as a subscriber I suppose there is little reason not to make this possible; it's not as if I'd be missing any advertisements.
But eh, considering that is pretty much the only 'complaint' (if that) I have about whiskey media sites, it all still is pretty awesome.
New Web Layout?
" I have a feeling it might look fine in other browsers maybe, but the way Firefox 4.0 handles text everything is really bulky/hard to read. "Fix is in the works. Should be going out soon. We are stripping the custom fonts out for now. It was looking super sharp in Safari, Chrome, but testing in FF was a pain for a bunch of tech reasons.
" I don't like it at all. I hope it's still being tweaked actively. - The fonts are horrible - The top bar is way too wide - The left navigation bar has some seriously off looking font Basically everything is now less readable and takes up more space. I'm using Firefox 4 so maybe something is just up with my browser rendering but I doubt it. Edit: Yeah it renders the top bar way different in IE but still has the issues above "Does it look something like this? If so, they're working on it. As for the fonts, they'll be reverting them soon.
@Snide:@alexisg: As you can see above, the bar is much shorter now (not taking up the whole screen anymore), but it's still broken. When I scroll over the forums tab, it shrinks to the size of the forum list, but when I take it off, it returns to that size. All the other drop-downs remain at that size.
" @Ygg said:This is FF 3.5? box-flex is borked in that version for some reason. Its fine in 3.6 or 4." I don't like it at all. " @alexisg: Just noticed a bug: If you click in the right side of the search-field (just behind the "search for something" text), you'll need to click again to be able to enter text. If you click anywhere else, everything acts normal. "Browser? I think its the options link getting in the way. But not sure. I am not seeing it.

" Clean and simple. I like. Don't like the search and username font, though. "Thanks. Yeah fonts are going back to old as we speak. Deployment takes a few minutes
This is what I meant about the navigation looking different:" @B0nd07 said:

FF 4
IE9
I noticed that the bars are supposed to scale with how big the web browser window is, that works in Firefox and Chrome but not so much in IE9. I think the fact they scale makes the navbar look a bit too big in full screen mode!
I'm really enjoying the new layout, and I've yet to have any trouble with it. I think that in time I could learn to love like the GiantBomb of olde.
I don't like it at all. It takes up way too much visual space, and is big and bulky. And if you don't have the browser maximized, it looks like complete shit.
EDIT: It's also incredibly annoying that the popups happen instantly instead of on a delay, so any time I run my mouse up to my tabs, shit pops up. Fix this fucking shit.
" I love the new layout except for a few minor issues. When I click the search bar to starting typing, it expands which is really neat. However, anything to the right of that bar gets smushed and causes it to look a little off.Thanks. We figured out the problem. The media query stuff we are doing was failing cause of YUI compressor. We are updating but problem probably won't get fixed till Monday. Its also the reason that non box-flex browsers such as IE and opera are not getting adjustments in the nav as you make the window bigger.

Not sure if it's been brought up, but the fact that profile backgrounds extend to behind your message bar is a bit of a problem. If a user has a white background, then it's extremely difficult (or impossible) to see if you have any messages or friends online.
