Not able to watch LOLS on Justin.tv?

The stream is cutting to black after a few seconds with a message for me to buy a Premium membership on Justin to continue watching, because they've "reached the maximum number of streams in your country". I live in Norway. Any way around this, or am I fucked?

Fuck me then. They should've just kept it open for everyone on Twitch if Justin.tv is paywalled for people outside the US. Would have been cool for non-subs too. Ah well, I'm going to bed then...

Why is justin.tv so bad? And why did twitch do these changes with the password? Why make things shittier for everyone?

Watching fine in UK with 60mb connection. Seems shitty for those that can't. If they can't find a good replacement for premium streams than that's most of the subscription content gone. I know I wouldn't pay for just the archive, I like the interactivity of it. Shame :-(

Justin has always done this shit IIRC, so no big surprise. I'm just surprised that GB even tried to do a stream on Justin, and wanted to know if there was away around the bullshit. Feels a bit like DRM by GB, hitting the people who pay, but I guess it's a honest mistake and hope they find a solution soon.

As for why Twitch stopped with password protected streams, I guess few outside of GB used it in a legitimate way (some People probably streamed some nasty shit with a password too).

And I'm sure they'll find a solution. GS uses their own player for streams IIRC, but the flip side of that is the bandwidth cost. There has to be alternatives to Twitch's password protected streams.

I'd honestly rather the stream be open to everyone than suffer justin.tv. Hell it would solve the mobile app problem as well. Just keep the archives premium and make the live streams a special treat for all to witness?

As a temp solution, that would probably work. But I think they'd lose subscribers if they stopped with premium streams, so they need to find a solution. Until then, open it up I say. Pretty fucked by twitch to just close that service with no real warning.

Yeah twitch is totally fucking them up right now. It is just disgusting to see this. No other streaming site removed a privacy feature like that. Not even the ones who had trouble especially with sexual content. Intest of removing it give admins the right to view these and to close them if they strip etc. I reall like twitch but this is just pathetic...

There's probably plenty of other streaming avenues they could look into out there. Does Vimeo or DailyMotion provide password protected streaming yet?

Yeah, it seems a bit strange. Why not at least give the option to trusted user like GB? How much of a hassle can it be for Twitch to let at least selected users put a password on their streams? My guess is: None. Was this a reaction to the PS4 play room clusterfuck, or did it happen before?

It happened because someone decided to sue the password function to strip on playroom yes. Just remove everything playroom related and done. But no one password protected strip and they remove a great feature. WTF......

I stopped watching due to frequent full-screen ads and stuttering (with no bandwidth options available on the stream). I'll wait for the archive and no doubt enjoy it, but in the meantime this sucks. I hope GB find another solution.

They know about it already and it is the last time they are just using justin TV. Right now they need a new streaming service which can take a while probably. But yeah lets just go to some prono stream site there is one with really great qualy. Just use the stream from there and use the chat from twitch^^

@maero945 Nico Nico has a similar restriction like justin TV so that is no option. The problem is to find a really good streaming site and right now I guess U stream if they offer this is the only real alternative if you don't want to go the porno route.

@darji: Huh, if that's actually the case...that's just such a big overreaction. I get that it probably wasn't a big sacrifice for Twitch to make since not many bigger user used the function, but to completely remove it even for users like GB is so fucking stupid. I hope GB can get either a deal in place with Twitch (the site fucking uses the GB database for their game pictures etc., have some gratitude!:P), or at least find a good alternative.

I believe they also have a requirement for things like server side archives and what not so whatever service they run with would have to supply that function.

They removed this feature exactly after that strip sow happened. So it isss 100pro because of this. And yeah it was a total overreaction. I get that there is a problem with this stuff but how was this ever a problem on a site like twitch? I bet on justin tv they are doing it constantly. Same with other casual chatting sites.

Sorry about that, guys. We weren't aware of the limitations that Justin had on foreign users (a bit tough to test in the office). We'll look into something else for next time.

What we need to do is petition and pressure Twitch to bring back some form of private channels. This change is ridiculous, and it serves little purpose but to screw over legitimate users like Giant Bomb. They need to fix this.

We've talked with them about it, but they're unlikely to bring the feature back. It's no huge deal, we'll figure something out.

@rorie: Doesn't Gamespot have its own steaming player thing? Or does that just feed through twitch?

Why not just partner-gate the password feature? Twitch are being real dumb about this.

@flacracker: GS does have it's own streaming player, but it's probably much cheaper for GB to use a third party player. It's not cheap to keep your own streaming service going in terms of servers etc.
