Following multiple retailer leaks, Take-Two and Rockstar Games have officially announced Grand Theft Auto V is expected to launch worldwide during spring 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Grand Theft Auto V builds on everything we’ve learned about open world game design,” said Rockstar Games founder Sam House. “We can’t wait to share it with fans.”

Grand Theft Auto V will be available for pre-order in stores beginning November 5.

"Developed by series creator Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto V takes place in a re-imagined, present-day Southern California in the largest and most thriving game-world we have ever created set in the sprawling city of Los Santos and for miles beyond – from the tops of the mountains to the depths of the ocean."

I hope it ends up being better than GTA IV was. I could never go more than 15 minutes in that game before I got bored.

ditto. I did beat it though but that was quite a chore....to be honest, other than RDR, I haven't liked a single Rockstar game this gen

@Kung_Fu_Viking: Them specifically mentioning its a worldwide release on the PS3 and Xbox 360 probably means a no on the PC releasing the same day.

But seriously, so fucking pumped. Really excited to see what they've learned from RDR and LA Noire (though, yeah, I realize that wasn't fully them).

Yeah, I had forgotten that there was a dog in the trailer haha.

I'm really stoked for GTA V, IV and Red Dead Redemption are two of my favorite games this generation and I expect this will improve upon everything those games did.

Hopefully they take Rockstar Vancouvers shooting system from Max Payne 3. While I loved the GTA IV and RDR, the shooting in Max Payne was the best in any Rockstar game.

@Manhattan_Project: Yeah, definitely. The way Max moved was also much more fluid and easy to control than the on-foot segments in RDR and GTAIV and hopefully that will carry over into GTA V.

One of few things I'm worried about is how Rockstar will handle the driving. I know a lot of people around here didn't like the driving in IV, but I really hope they keep it similar in this new game. I loved everything about driving in IV and I don't want them to drastically change it just because some people couldn't get the hang of it.

@Manhattan_Project: Agreed. Max Payne 3's shooting was so damn good.

I'll probably preorder this, continuing my trend of feeling that Rockstar's output of titles are the only thing worth paying full price for nowadays.

Looks like the art says its going in the right direction. We know Saints Row is crazy and all but GTA was more silly than crazy and I loved that. Then you got to GTA 4 and they decided to get serious. Couldn't relate or care about Niko because he kept hanging out with Roman. Can't wait to hear more details.

@TheHBK:

I'd say that the original promo trailer certainly implies a similarly serious tone; when did that become such a bad thing? Personally, if Rockstar decided to return to the tone set by the original trilogy in some kind of misguided attempt to capture Saints Rows audience, I would take that a complete step back for GTA. I say let THQ and Rockstar do their own thing.

I know they probably will tweak it (which it did need a bit of) but I will be so disappointed if they just decide to go the lazy route like SR: The Third and every other open world game does by just making everything feel basically weightless.

I want my cars to feel like cars not cardboard boxes.

@benpicko: I'm sure there will be a PC version too, Rockstar would throw away many sales if they didn't, and all the modders would be pissed too!

@Manhattan_Project: That's different though because Red Dead didn't have any instalments on the PC whereas GTA does so people will be expecting it to return, I could be wrong, but... I doubt it :)

I just hope that Red Dead was a test for GTA V's multiplayer, just thinking about integrating Red Dead's leveling system into GTA's setting makes me excited for GTA V.

When did Ijustine become a character in the GTA universe? How long was I in a coma?

Anywho: Can't wait to preorder.
