What class do you usually play in western style games like Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age, Icewind Dale etc.? Why do choose this class and what party setup do you go for? I myself usually play a mage damage dealer and go with one healer and two warriors one of which can be a bard. I find playing a mage more interesting, and I like all this mystic magic stuff.
RPG class
I find myself playing more rogue characters. Use to play only tank types but I feel like a rogue is a bit more of a challenge but not as hard as playin a mage. Usually I try for stealthy and such too. Like for DA:O my main atm is a human rogue with a tendency to stab things in the back with poisoned blades. It's just something about hitting something once or twice and watching them just fade to black.
I usually play a hybrid if the option exists. Some melee, some magic. If not, I fall back to mages. I've been playing magic-users since my old D&D 2nd Edition days in the 80s.
I tend to be rather flexible when it comes to that sort of thing. I do not enjoy challenge when I play games so while I of course prefer to play something that appeals to me I can occasionally end up playing a type of character that makes the game as easy as possible.
But in general I guess I go for rogue/assassin type characters a lot. I also tend to go for those types of characters when playing pen and paper RPGs.
Whatever feels like it takes the most skill to play usually. Rangers/tanks/and healers in general, but I usually give each class a go, unless it's an MMO.
I usually play the warrior class first time through. Because I just want to relax and enjoy the story. I'll then go for a rogue or mage in my second playthrough.
