Should Giant Bomb discontinue the use of rating for reviews?

No, not because they make the review better, but because, with a score, this site gets on metacritic, and since companies use that site for bonus pay rates, it means they are more likely to deal with gb, since, they want to influence gb.

I think they should switch to a sliding scale of -4.3333 to 16.8164113554. That would simplify things and make everybody happy.

Yup it's moronic to quickly be able to check out a bunch of scores and say "Hey that game I was excited about is getting great ratings across the board, it must be pretty good!" instead of reading long-winded opinions of people who could have completely different tastes to you and spend 60 dollars based on that.

It's an average of all games released for the current year. It will increase/decrease based on the amount of and mean score of all games released up until that point.
