Steam downloading slower than normal?

is steam downloading slower than normal or is it something on my end? I know its the holidays and everything but im not getting very good download speeds and just want to make sure.

It's highly likely it's just overloaded servers - I gifted CoD4 to a friend and he gifted me Max Payne...the number of downloads today is probably a gigantic spike.

There's probably more people downloading things than usual, because it's Christmas. It should be back to usual in a couple of days.
