Come on guys!

This is our chance to change things and NOT be what GS is.

This isn't a website for flamming, or system wars. This isn't a website for BS and trivial arguments.

So far everyone has been getting along really well. I mean it's like hour 5 ....but still... so far I think a lot of people are enjoying the change of housing arrangements.

But I just hope we all keep in mind that GS went to hell because of their stupid editors, stupid forum rules, stupid 10 year old mods - system wars and of course... the hideous plastic layout.

Let's try and make this our own brand of gaming website. I know we all just got off of a 2-3 year GS binge or whatever, but this isn't GS. It's a Wiki site developed FOR the user, by the user. No money, no paychecks, no offices and BMW's. No EA with their fingers in website layout changes and flash ad's.

So keep doing what you're doing! Spread the word, have fun, post reviews and wiki's; and above all, keep a level of maturity and respect for eachother. :)

This isn't GS, but flaming and system wars are going to happen.

User generated material is the crux of the site though.

Whereever you go you will have flamming but hopefully we can keep it to a bare minimum over here

#4 Posted by Oni (2114 posts) -

I agree with the "Let's not have a garbage community like Gamespot" sentiment. I didn't post much there, because the general level there was just so, so low.

#5 Posted by Jax (461 posts) -

thats the plan!!! :)

#6 Posted by Jax (461 posts) -

I also want to say... something feels really different about this website.

The members seem more talkative and friendlier here, than over at GS. I think because a lot of the older banned members who made GS what it was, decided to come here.

I like this site a whole lot more. Everyone is pretty welcoming and willing to have a laugh. At Gamespot you got moderated for the stupidest things, and everyone seemed to chip in the stupidest opinions which just ignited the flame wars and irritated everyone else.

This is our chance for something great.  Let's not blow it.

#9 Posted by LouChou (458 posts) -

Call me an idealist, but I like the idea that we could actually be a community here. I also agree that people seem to be getting along real well; which is very unusual for a forum.

Here's to a thousand years of Giant Bomb prosperity!

Cheers!

#11 Posted by HipHopHitler (59 posts) -

I hope everyone ships together. I'm just hoping that all the 10 year olds don't flock in their droves later on when news spreads.

#12 Posted by Felix (145 posts) -

The level of maturity comes from the early adopters who are here because they actually care about where the site goes and how it evolves. Hopefully as the amount of users expands this can continue, it may be difficult, but we can all help it happen.

I'm guessing in a few days we'll have our very own trolls.

#14 Posted by MiceElf (16 posts) -

trolls keep balance...you can't have good without evil

#15 Posted by Jax (461 posts) -

Almost everyone I've run into on this board so far is really cool, and has nice things to say. It's fucking WEIRD coming from GS and seeing people actually.......

.....

communicate. That's the word I was looking for.

It's amazing. And I agree - if the founders and first board members can keep a hold on the way this place is run - then we all, as a community, might be able to keep the cancer from spreading and the 10 year olds out of GB.

I don't mean to be picky, but haven't you already started the first step of game critic hell, by criticising another well established website?

I must say, I really like the navigation of the site. I don't have to wait for a spererate page to load, I just click the reply button and a box just shows up. Really neat. So far the forums are already buzzing!

Hopefully we can make this the best gaming community ever. I think we have started on the right foot though. Go Giant Bomb!

If they do we'll lure them to the edge of a cliff... And then beat their asses! We wont even push them off the cliff, we'll let them think we're going to do that, then just wail on them.

So far, so good. I know a few users on GS forums who wont migrate here because their post count's are high over there.

#20 Posted by Sonofabiscuit (13 posts) -

Amen to that!

Correction, criticising some of the people that use their forums! We're not ripping on their site.

I like it. We'll get their consoles and throw them off instead.

Well, I see where you're coming from, and I suppose in my haste, I may have been a tad hypocritical. I'm just really fed up with all of the corruption over at GS and I'm really happy that there is some change going on.

It's nice to have a feeling of collective responsibility. That we are somehow responsible for the direction this community takes. Exciting!

Ah, the plot thickens. We are highly elaborate deviants, aren't we. It's like Ocean's Eleven, only this ain't not act kids!

This pwns so badly

Needs moar mods *hides*

#28 Posted by LouChou (458 posts) -

I vote we should all have personal moderators. They will act essentially as our lawyers, and all communications between us will happen amongst them. It's safer that way.

#29 Posted by BladeOfHeaven (35 posts) -

Better then Gamespot so far
I miss OT though lol

#30 Posted by Oriental_Jams (3063 posts) -

Yes it is *lurks in death pit*. In all seriousness though, the forum side of things is going to end up like GS, let's face it nerds need help with girls.

No need to bump extremely old topics for no real reason other than to bump them. If you haven't got anything new to add to the discussion (even a year or more after it originally took place) then do not bump the topic.
