whenever i play a game and i see something cool happen but then i realize it could've happened cooler and i start imagining different scenarios in the game and i kind of remove myself from the game which i hate. do you ever do weird stuff like that where you image a better game?

You sound like my English teacher. In class today he was trying to improve on one of Shakespeare's sonnets. Not to say Shakespeare is perfect, but somehow this lowly eleventh grade English teacher trying to make revisions to Sonnet 55 seemed silly.

Anyways no, I don't think I do that. If I really like a game I might think about alternate ways it could have played out, but rarely have I thought; "I would have done that better." Well, save for awful, awful story choices.

I do that with movies/ TV shows (Heroes for example) more than anything. You could say the consumer knows best

Sometimes.  I think of crazy shit that could have happen in Super Mario Galaxy or Bayonetta, but I still enjoyed the games for what they are.

@Zajtalan: I do that ALL the time, but then I realise how complicated game development is and how much of an incredible effort is put into even just an OK game, and then I am content and sometimes amazed with what I'm experiencing.

I do that with sub-par video games, but only because I think "how could you have missed this!?"

Yeah I feel the same too.
Dante's Inferno is an example of a game I could have directed to be much better.

It usually involves realisitic violence though.

No, the only time I'll really start imagining how something could have happened better is if it's glaringly poorly done,
