Underrated Games

I'll definitely agree with the OP on Sonic 4. That game is pretty damn good, but you'd never know it because of people hating on it because it's Sonic.

I really liked Majora's Mask.

Is this like within the gaming community of-the-variety-that-goes-on forums? Because I see a lot of praise for Majora's Mask, Megaman Legends & The Darkness in forums & message boards. 
Less love for Republic Commando but it's usually there too, certainly in any discussion about Star Wars. 
 
I hardly ever see people talking about Ghost Master. It may be an old game & the difficulty may be incredibly unforgiving but damn if isn't fun.

Final Fantasy 8 (sure it changed the formula a lot and not all for the better, but still the second best FF next to FF7 IMO)  
It doesn't deserve the "black sheep" status it seems to have.

• Dreamweb
• KKND Xtreme, War Wind and a whole host of other crappy derivative 90's RTS games that were actually amazing

• The BLAZBLUE series. So superior to all the other fighting games out there right now!
  

I feel like there hasn't been an "Underrated games" thread in a forum I've been a registered user on, where I haven't screamed about Crush.
 
Crush is the most underrated thing of anything ever for me.

The first Turok really reminded me of the first Metroid Prime game in design just not quite as structured.  This is probably because some of the dudes that made the Turok games formed Retro Studios.  I just couldn't get in to the second game and I know the rest were big disappointments.  It's to bad they moved away from the openness and non-linear nature of the first game.

• Heavenly Sword - Probably the best female protagonist ever and a cracking set of characters. Great ending too.
• Syphon Filter - Seems to get laughed at a lot. Loved it at the time though.
• Warhammer Online - Had some genuinely great ideas, such as public quests. Isn't WoW and monthly fees are dumb.
• Vampire The Masquarade : Bloodlines - Was broken at release but after much fan made patches and love. Put your controllers down and give it a go.
• Far Cry - Crytech's first effort. Great game which has NOTHING to do with the sequel or that predator nonsense.

Did the rest of Sonic 4 ever come out?

Star Wars: Battlefront and Republic Commando.
