Wow, those are quite different games to compare. What a contrast. A banana or an orange or an apple. I pick the apple, it's simple and delicious.
what is the best:tekken or street fighter or punch out?
Tekken VS Street Fighter. Right, they're both fighting games, I get it.
Because otherwise the thread would be exactly the same as his last one. Not that it's that much different from his last thread with it mind you.
Leky1 has a thing for Tekken it seems. Tekken post A, Tekken post B. I'm going off the chart and ... [more]
Anyway, I went with Tekken. Purely because I've never played Punch Out!! and haven't had enough exposure to the Street Fighter series to pass judgement.
I really think you have to be nostalgic in order to enjoy the new punch out. I played it the other day....and it's horrible. It's just a boring timing mini-game game.
I got the impression from the trailers that it was just Wii Sports - Boxing with a visual makeover. How far is it from being that?
It's Punch-Out!! with a visual makeover. I think the gameplay holds up just fine. I didn't play the originals in their time so I started with Super Punch-Out!! on the Virtual Console after Punch-Out!! Wii was announced. I've been having a blast and can't wait until I get this one. Nostalgia's got nothing to do with it, it's just a unique gameplay premise that feels fun and rewarding. It's nothing like Tekken or Street Fighter and should not be compared with them. The poll is meaningless anyway, only a fraction of the Street Fighter craze veterans will have played this game. It's nothing like Wii Sports - Boxing either.
If it's literally the same old Punch Out!, then i'll skip it. I have nothing against it, but I own Punch Out, i'll just play that.
Controls are the same or very similar, patterns and graphics are different (so they might as well be new characters anyway, just the names are the same), there's unlockables and a vs mode and an extra tough mode after you beat everything. That's what people wanted, more Punch-Out!! and I don't see what else they could do with the franchise other than turn it into a conventional boxing game which then shouldn't bear the franchise name as it just wouldn't be Punch-Out!! at that point. No it's not identical to the original, but it's not far removed either. Much like Super Punch-Out!! was the SNES edition, this is the Wii edition I suppose, though they chose to use many of the same character names and styles. I was just telling you it's nothing like Wii Sports - Boxing by saying it's Punch-Out!! instead. It's no different to the various iterations of a beat 'em up franchise, except the last time we had a Punch-Out!! was 15 years ago so it's not like there's market saturation for this playing style.
