What is up with the moderation over on the IGN boards?

I was banned for spamming with 1 single thread which was this;

I then had to make an alt account to ask what had happened, and that was banned to with the 'spam' nonsense too.

With this & the Disqus comments moderators over there going nuts banning anyone and removing comments for no obvious reason (although I seemed to be left alone on Disqus by them), IGN REALLY seems to be going down hill rapidly!

This is not a good idea for a thread. Please avoid creating threads like this in the future.

We are only affiliated with "Not giving a shit about how or why you got banned".

"Moderators on Site X suck" is one of the worst ways to introduce yourself, regardless of any affiliation with Site X.

And for the record, this site is not affiliated with IGN. Our overlords are CBS Interactive, who also own GameSpot and GameFAQs.

Don't take it too hard if this thread gets locked. Nothing worth discussing here. But hey, at least you wont get banned.

No, but coming to a different forum to complain about you getting banned generally doesn't fly around here. Also doesn't paint a good picture of you, even if what you're saying is true.

IGN has been the laughing stock of the videogame industry for many years now.

Yeah. I honestly have no concept of their boards so this is entirely my own bias, but trying to foster a community over there seems like trying to buy cool local stuff at Walmart.

This is a dumb thread, but I will say the ign forums, and the ign community in general is awful. People don't understand what a critic does or the meaning of critical discourse over there. I once had a discussion with a person who thought the reviewer reviewing the 3rd season of american horror story should be replaced because he was giving episodes 7s and 8s. And that a person needs to like something for them to be able to review it. Like, what the fuck?

Also, the meme use over there rivals reedit.

Getting ban from another site's forum is your problem not ours. If you choose not to follow the Giant Bomb forum rules, you are free to leave. As others said before. Complaining about other sites to join this one is a not a great way to make a first impression.
