Metal Gear Solid 3 is the correct choice.
What is your FAVORITE Metal Gear Solid game?
The amount of batshit crazy that goes on in MGS2's story wins it for me, although I am willing to admit that MGS3 is a much more playable game.
This answer is not so simple for me. In terms of nostalgia, nothing will ever compare to the original PS1 Metal Gear Solid. Although, technically speaking I feel like MGS3: Snake Eater is the better game. And on top of that, I think MGS4: Guns of the Patriots is, artfully, Kojima's masterpiece. Just too touch to decide.
I've only played 2 and 4(bring it haters), but I'll say 3 seems the best. I like 2 over 4 as well. So I guess it's 3>2>4. Not that I've found any of them even nearly as entertaining as people claim. The control schemes make the games extremely hard to maneuver precisely and just leads to a ton of frustration. But I'm not here to be hating, so please tell me HOW to enjoy the MGS series more.
I don't think I like Metal Gear anymore, if they were to never make another one again I'd be fine with that.
I'm gonna say the first Metal Gear Solid though, can't think of a good reason right now but it seems like a decent answer.
" Probably Metal Gear Solid 4. I haven't played 2 and 3 but 4 is probably my favorite game in the world at this time. I've played it more times than I can count. I don't know exactly why. Lots of people seem to dislike it. "A-WHA!?
2's definately my favourite. I'm one of the few people that think Raiden was an awesome clever idea, and I like Vamp and Fortune and pretty much all the characters. I think it was the peak of Metal Gear's stealth gameplay and there was some really cool action-movie moments like when Fatman dies but leaves one bomb behind, or when you fight a jet, or when that building floods, or when you wake up naked n everything's crazy and you're in a vault of like 200 metal gears and you meet Snake and IT'S ALL SO AWESOME.
3 is really fun and I like it, but the big speech you have with the boss at the end was just a load of spacey crap about liberty n justice or whatever, The Fury turns into a giant fire skull and flies at you, and The Boss's scar turns into a snake and slithers away. People say 2 is crazy, but I think 3 is just straight-up stupid at some points.
MGS 1 has the best story and is the most moving experience, but gameplay wise MGS 3 is the best.
Nostalgia wins! MGS 1.
It's between 2 or 3 but if I have to pick one, it'll have to 2: Sons of Liberty. It's the first MGS game I ever played and to this day it sticks to me as something special. However, Snake Eater has a better storyline but in terms of gameplay, 2 feels a lot more responsive and easy to get into.
Snake Eater.
Subsistance fixed its only problem (the camera).
Its an easy choice as it had the best story and best gameplay. Glad to see it winning.
MGS1 is my favorite. Played it when I was really young and then played it about a month ago. It's still a great game to play.
Shit. The page jumped while loading so I accidentally voted for MGS3 instead of the infinitely superior MGS2. Fuck.
Snake Eater. The story felt more grounded, with a greater focus on the characters, emotions, and less sci-fi mumbo jumbo. A great mix of mechanics, which while clumsy, gave a lot of depth and tons of ways how to approach any situation, which the boss battle with The End epitomises. Speaking of which, MGS3 has the best collection of boss fights in any game.
I'll make a shocking announcement and say that I believe 2 is better than the rest, though that may be nostalgia kicking in (it was the first one I played).I never actually completed Snake Eater because of The End boss fight. What's funny is that is probably most people's choice for favourite boss battle in the series, but I believe a good boss to fight is someone who is a terrifying opponent and a 100 year old man with a parrot doesn't strike me as threatening.Dead Cell from MGS2 were a truly horrific bunch.I'll never forget that scene where Vamp massacres an entire Navy Seals squad.
