Which video game has the worst voice acting of all time?

As we all know very very well, video games before the age of the PS2 had... either horrid to average voice acting 99% of the time. Some games may not have had bad voice actors like MGS, however, there is still a crapton that I am amazed on how bad the acting is.

This topic is to show off the worst of the worst. The ones that are either so bad that they are funny as hell, to the very worst which are capable of wanting people to become deaf so they wouldn't hear another word! Let this topic celebrate the horrid voice acting in video games!

My first pick is a famous arcade gem. The main bad guy is either A, a robot, B, a man on some sort of super emotion controlling drugs, or C, a very shitty actor in a funny way. Enjoy!

Goldman is amazing, his laugh is so... awful that it is easily one of the funniest things I have heard all this year. It is like that one sound you can't get enough of and that you enjoy listening to. That is how amazing his laugh is!

Now for the next... which I honestly think has the worst acting in any video game... in the universe... No, really, I truly am not joking in the slightest everyone. I warn you all now. This video game voice acting I am going to show you may cause many things to occur to your body system.

1. Your body will deem your ears unworthy and cause infections in them to prevent hearing of this abysmal video game voice acting.

2. The sound waves from the speakers/headphones are in themselves capable of creating tumors the size of your fist.

3.The sound waves also effect your eyeballs to the point of becoming bloodshot then blindness occurs shortly afterwards

4. Death by causing your body to give up in order to stop listening to this. As a plus, your body never rots due to the worms and maggots never choosing to go near the sound waves.

These are the reported signs from just two minutes of watching this next video. People who choose to listen to this abysmal voice acting. Take heed of these words!

What about Valis III? If ever there was a more halting and unenthusiastic performance in a video game, I've yet to see it.

Awful audio on this one, but it's the only example I could find. His voice acting alone stopped me from playing this game.

At least Chaos Wars has the excuse of literally featuring family member's of the publisher's CEO as cast members. That is bottom of the barrel "we don't have the budget to do proper voiceovers" quality right there.

But still... it is bad quality... like... REALLY bad. It isn't even funny bad... it literally is bad. Those are some pretty disinterested family members though, I will say that. I wonder if the guy who made them do it paid them or just convinced them that they would be in a video game and that was in it's own reward. The publishing company seems cheap enough to try that one.

Hyperdimension Neptunia MK 2 has some bad voice acting in it.

Damn that goldman guy is eerie.

Probably not the worst voice acting ever, but I was watching a playthrough of Disaster Report and I noticed it has some really bad voice acting. Still an interesting game, though.

Clock tower for the PS1 had some truly amazing voicework. :)

Best voice acting, or best voice acting? If I remember correctly, Obscure on PS2 had some pretty bad VA as well.

I think the best way to play Obscure is co-op with a friend. Had some good times with that.

Arma 2, not that Microsoft Sam shit the actual scripted campaign vo it's so awful.. Also, ninety nine nights that also has real bad vo and the lip syncing is non existent.

It's real. Completely real. The game was pre-order only from gamestop. Game informer had advertised it and I was in fact tempted to actually preorder this game... Thank all things good in the world that I was broke that month!

The Shadow Hearts fan in me feels nothing but rage and hate at that Chaos Wars video.

edit: after listening to some of the other posted vids this doesn't seem so bad...

Star Ocean: The Last Hope had a pretty grating localization team.

I liked how you could skip cutscenes in that game and it would give you a summary of what happened: saved me a lot of ear-bleeding.

Sorry, guys, I'm pretty sure Jay has it this time. The voice acting in that Chaos Wars clip is atrocious.

I know. Overall sugguestions so far have just been funny bad, not the legitimately bad yet. The Chaos War clip has yet to be beaten.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. They used voice actors from the Pokemon TV series and it was bad.

The European version of Michigan is said to have legendarily awful voice acting, but I can't find any videos on youtube...

Maybe not the worst, but Tails in really any 3D Sonic game is just awful. I literally mash the skip button as soon as I see him appear. It is painful. Also, the Dynasty Warriors series has always had hilariously bad voice acting. Or at least it did in the PS2 days. Haven't played it this generation. Maybe they've improved. Generally Japanese companies use anime quality actors (or literally the same actors) for their American voice acting. Obviously a foreign company would tend to have worse English VO. Though SE tends to put some quality VO in its FF games, Hope notwithstanding.

Yeah these examples are all pretty bad, I can tell you the one that get overlooked the most though, the Isimura's Ship's computer voice in Dead Space 1 is so bad it's bordering on outright racist. It's well knows that Americans can't do a British accent, the only people that think they sound legit are other Americans and even then only if they do Dickensian Gent or Cockney Barrow Boy, that may sound harsh but in games we have to put up with it a lot. But the voice actress for that ships computer must have never even heard of Britain. It's so bad and offensive in every respect it's the equivalent of them having a Chinese Ship's Computer that says shit like "Ching chong" etc.

I didn't see Dark Void listed here.

You can't really blame some of the American voice actors because most likely they're not professionals and were just hired cheaply. Like that Chaos Wars video on the front page, that sounds like people who are just reading from script. They don't emote or anything. Blame the dubbing company who wouldn't shell out enough dough to hire professional voice actors.

Has no one mentioned Just Cause 2 yet? Because someone needs to mention Just Cause 2.
