Will the ps2 type8 cord work with ps3 slim?

I just got my ps3, unfortunately the company i ordered from fucked up with the packaging and sent me the wrong power cable. My question is, will any type8 cord work and specifically will the ps2 type8 cord  with the ps3 slim. Or are there any voltage differences or something else that will harm the hardware? Thanks
