I mean, it has to happen soon-ish. Right?
Mario Party Party 6 waiting room
they can't be banned! we're sooo close...... I sort of figured there wasn't one in a while because goty plus redoing the studio. But Dan tweeted a picture of a copy of mario party 6! Plus Mario Party Party is one of my favorite things, i literally share it with my family because they don't play video games but played mario party when me and my sister were little so we all get to bond over it! I'll miss it if it's actually gone T_T
Edit: It came with a microphone!!! I still have mine, I'll send it too them if I have to!

@mike: I hear that 6 is where the series got good...
I heard that at least once about each previous one too!
It's not like I'm complaining though, I revel in their misery.
I'm under the impression they will just be saving these for live shows because the last one went so well.

I feel like either Brad or Jeff said on a Bombcast (or a Tumblr ask or something) that they weren't very interested in doing it live again? I wish I could remember where I heard that.
@waluigi: Your Waluigi status is making me think you may just be messing with me.
But no really that would be too bad. I think it is by far the best thing they have done as far as any live show.

Boarding the quote train. Choo choo motherfuckers!

The worlds number one Mario Party expert, Ryan T. Davis, doesn't agree.
@mattyftm: Pshh, he found it 0.1 points away from "good," rounding rules makes it even more so of an objective fact.
For the sake of satisfying my curiosity, I checked all the main line (or canon) Mario Party titles on Metacritic. Yes, I know, fucking Metacritic, but it's a good way to collect a bunch of reviews together. Here are the scores, both critical and user generated.
Game Title | Critics' Score | Users' Score |
---|---|---|
Mario Party | 79 | 7.9 |
Mario Party 2 | 76 (based on 2 reviews | 8.4 |
Mario Party 3 | 74 | 8.1 |
Mario Party 4 | 70 | 7.3 |
Mario Party 5 | 69 | 8.0 |
Mario Party 6 | 71 | 7.7 |
Mario Party 7 | 64 | 7.7 |
Mario Party 8 | 62 | 6.3 |
Mario Party 9 | 73 | 6.8 |
Mario Party 10 | 66 | 6.5 |
So, depending on which crowd you think is more correct, the series either peaked at the beginning and has gotten almost steadily worse until a spike at 9, or peaked at 5 and has only gone down hill since then. Either way, I really hope they make Mario Party party 6 soon. I never played any of them after 3 and want to see the trainwreck that Dan has steered them into.

I wondered if the Amiibo Festival Festival was treated as a Mario Party Party? Like, "We played a full turn of one of these games, so we have to wait another 4 months before we can touch another Party Game."
That said, I feel like now is the time. Although it is kind of a bummer that the best Mario Party Party's may have already happened. I'm not familiar with any of the future games, but from my understanding there are things like whoever reaches X amount of stars first wins and people ride on a train or something, instead of everybody having their own dice rolls. I want some burden and dread with my Mario Party Party's, and it sounds like stuff like that will make those games more bearable.
They should do it during E3. After they finish around for the day, they can come back and unwind with a nice, quick, relaxing, friendship-building game of Mario Party.
I feel like MPP 5 had playable minigames, and the crowd was a great addition, so there is the distinct possibility that the video series has peaked. Dan can't really surpass his dickishness in MPP5, right? Either way, I'm dying to find out.
It would also be pretty great if they decided to end the series unceremoniously, and 10 years down the road Jeff admits that they got better after 5. Would be even more of a twist if they actually played them and liked the future MPPs, but Dan begins to hate the series. It would be an elaborate troll, but is not beyond Ryckert and the crew to execute if the future games are shorter.
If they want to shake it up, they should see if they could manage to rope Mary or Danny into joining them. They deserve to join in the fun too.

The end of Giantbomb.

I don't know what they could have done to deserve that.
That would be fun though, I would enjoy seeing that, can the Mario Parties do more than 4 players at once? Would that mean the game would take even LONGER?! Ahhhaha,
There is a loaded gun on the table, and it is Mario Party. Anticipation of The Party Party is worse the The Party Party itself.
I still have flashbacks/terrors about the previous Party Parties.
I had something of an omen two days ago. I was watching an episode of on the spot from 2004 and Jeff was playing Mario Party 6 with Rich, Ryan McD and Greg K. It will probably happen soon now.
As of today (Feb 23rd), we are still currently in the longest MPP drought. Bring on the party!
Party | Video Posted | Days Between | Months Between |
---|---|---|---|
MPP1 | 7/29/2014 | n/a | n/a |
MPP2 | 11/6/2014 | 100 | 3.3 |
MPP3 | 1/28/2015 | 83 | 2.7 |
MPP4 | 4/16/2015 | 78 | 2.6 |
MPP5 | 9/1/2015 | 138 | 4.5 |
MPP6 | TBD... | 175 and counting | 5.7 and counting |
List of Mario Party winners for your (everybody's) reference:
MPP1: Nobody
MPP2: Nobody
MPP3: Nobody
MPP4: Nobody
MPP5: Nobody
But I agree, it's time Jeff won.
I feel inclined to be on Team Jeff this time around, since he's the only one who has yet to win a Mario Party Party, but... Team Drew (and Yoshi)!
I believe in Jeff taking the victory this time. This is where it all turns around and he wins the rest of the games.
