Hey all, thought I'd make one of those hybrid forum/chat things for impressions from the MGS5 livestream from TGS, happening in one hour from the time this is posted. It was meant to be on yesterday, but the timer for it went to 10 minutes before jumping up to 22 hours. I claim no responsibility if that happens again.

We got the two videos as seen above, hopefully we get some nice high-quality official English ones soon.

"MGS Collection 2014" was a line of fashionable, but still 'functional', clothing based on MGS. The stream turned into a fashion show for 15 minutes, it was magical.

Also revealed was a 1:1 scale replica of Big Boss' prosthetic arm, as well as fancy looking white PS4 with the Diamond Dogs logo.

No release date for anything except for the Chinese release date of GZ (I think, definitely no Phantom Pain release date, and no PC release dates).

Sutherland pretended to care about MGS in a short video.

Edit 3: Nice official English versions of the all the video content have been released. Gameplay video is particularly fun to watch, as it is like the E3 and GamesCon videos with narration.

Oh man, Quite has a working skeletal and muscle system build in. Jesus christ that's amazing, I really hope that's real, most games still mess up the muscle from shoulder to pectoral it's ridiculous.

hmmmm, curious how map scales on last gen systems. Ground Zeroes did pretty well except enemies faded in and out of the map.

Is it just me, or does this seem like the most fun Metal Gear gamepaly yet? There are so many silly toys at your disposal. It's almost like Ratchet and Clank fused with Metal Gear.

a lot of gadgets and weapons looks directly from Peace Walker. But there wasn't a decent physics engine on it.

Man, makes me wish for a next gen MGS3 remake with the Fox Engine, haha.

@crithon: Give it a couple years, its gotta happen. MGS5: Resubmittance will have both mgs3 and peacewalker built in or something.

This game has that collect the soldiers mini-game? I thought that was super lame in portable ops and peacewalker.

hehe, I kinda hope not. I was super disappointed in some of the replacement J Idol posters on 3DS and HD versions of MGS3 remakes..... want to keep remembering Miri Hanai and Reon Kandena is all her PS2 low texture glory.

I bet you'll be able to develop upgrades for it at Outer Heaven just like anything else.

I'd imagine the terrain climbing isn't on par with Assassin'c Creed 3 or 4.... so there's got to be a modest way to handle it. Because in Ground Zeroes Snake could just leap over fences easily. Just a simple design like you see that single line crack is how to climb up.

Looks like that is one of the versions of the arm, called the "Stun Arm", with the ability to shock enemies. I bet you'll be able to upgrade it or get different ones.

I have nothing coherent to say about what I just saw. Holy shit. And here I thought I was jaded to the point where a game simply couldn't make me feel giddy with glee any more. Well, MGS, way to go. Way to fucking go.

And then I watched a fashion show for the first time in my life. Almost made it 3 decades. Almost.. If nothing else, I could actually live with some "Big Boss" or "Outer Heaven" branded underwear. People would just get the wrong idea if they said Diamond Dogs.

I don't know why I find it so weird they're bumping Macklemore at a Japanese trade show during some fashion show thing...
