Now,before you write this off as just regular you-tube spam (if you don't know about it read this),because my post won't be super large, keep in mind we know very little about foreign music (people in general),and sometimes music is even better when you don't understand it :). Besides, this stuff wouldn't be easy to find (especially if you don't even know about the band or song,or even country!)

Anyway, these are my favorite songs from my favorite Croatian band Elemental (no,it isn't a tween band, its and actual mature awesome band ^_^). You might like it,maybe not,but someone might......

Pozdrav stari. Elemental is a great band, but rap is lyrically very heavy- the text is the important part, which is hard to comprehend when in foreign language- so I think this is a bad example.
I'll try and post some more, other Croatian bands, who get their points across with music, more so than rap ; )

Best music from my country

You didn't say (other than America)

Alice in Chains is one of those bands that I believe transcends time and genre. They're musically sound. Every section is of highest caliber from the bass lines from Mike Starr/Inez to Kinney's unique drum style and  Laynes powerfull voice and lets not forget the amazing song composition, backup vocals, lead guitar work that Jerry Cantrell (my guitar hero) provides.. Sure some songs on their albums are a little out there, but the more you listen to them, the more you fall in love with the songs and the band.

@jams: I had never heard "What the Hell Have I" before this post. I like it a lot, what's your opinion on the current state of AiC? I saw them live back in March and thought they were pretty great.

I think they made "What the Hell Have I" exclusively for the Last Action Hero movie, so it's not on any of their albums (it's on some essential type albums though). I liked their latest album but it obvious they'll never be the same without Layne. My favorite song on their new album has to be Check my Brain. AiC is more like a Jerry Cantrell solo album but with all the remaining members of AiC.

Spain up in this thread.  Reggaeton music gets pretty boring but the Spanish rock is alright.

@MadeinFinland: FUCK YEAH!

In my opinion Brazil has some really shitty music, but theres a band that I really like called O Rappa. They mix rock, samba, MPB, and rap and also have socially aware lyrics. I think that their music has power behind it. Not just the lyrics, but the way that the instruments mix together

As an addition or alternative to @TaliciaDragonsong's picks, here's a song from Guilt Machine, one of Arjen Lucassen's projects (you might know him from such bands as Ayreon or Star One).

Other than that though... I don't know I guess Exivious and Textures are alright. Meh.

I'm gonna go all out and post some Norwegian music that is actually sung in Norwegian. At the same time it rocks hard.
This band here is a band you might know already. Kaizers Orchestra. This clip has a lot of extra stuff besides the song, but you don't know how good a band is till you've seen 'em live. If a band can't play well live, or an artist can't sing well live, then they kinda suck.

And here is some more traditional Norwegian music mixed with some more heavy stuff, played by Gåte (Riddle)

Got two many countries that I could choose, but taking the one where I lived longest time in.

This is their most mainstream song. Anywhere Out of This World is my favourite song by them, but it is rather long (25:32)
Band is called Reverend Bizarre and the country is Finland

If i was to list everyone from Marvin Gaye to Frank Sinatra, to Michael Jackson, to Aretha, Ray charles and the rest of those bastards? we'd be here all day.

So i'll just leave this here, My country gave birth to a man with the voice of Jesus.

Not really the best music from my country, but this is a really great song that doesn't get as much attention as Hendrix's other stuff, even though I think it's as good as anything else he's done.
