Thank you to Giant Bomb, and this incredible community. This is for all you duders.

<Bomba Gigante>

"<Bomba Gigante>" Oil On Cavas. By Pimbly 2014.

Started working on this painting using an abstract expressionist method with only one subject matter in mind: Giant Bomb.

Influences are Marcel Duchamp and Jackson Pollock. Would like to think video games are also an influence.

What do you duders think? Should I continue working on it, or call it done?

This is always a hard decision for an artist. However, art should be just as susceptible to the forces that drive the creation and destruction all around; from past to present into the future; continuously being altered.

What would you recommend adding?

Suggestions and any sort of criticism are welcome! Negative or positive, bring it on!

Thanks again to Giant Bomb for making a place for smart people to hang out, and make fun of the crazy idea we call life through video games.

About Me

[EDIT 2-28-14]

Calling it done duders! This painting has gotten some incredible feedback from you all and locally. It's achieved everything intended from the start which was to express the artist's love for Giant Bomb and allow the viewer to make their own subject matter. It's an inadvertent look into Pimbly's psyche and at the same time represents Giant Bomb in their free-form style, playfulness and aggression.

[EDIT 1-29-14]

Here's a few new photos:

I think it's pretty great right now because what I see is Earthworm Jim beating up a Klan member.

It looks... beautiful.

Awesome work. Really wish I could finish a painting of my own. This is inspiring!

I can still see too much intention. As Drew's childhood camp instructor apparently told him once, "... Unplug".

I love it! I would definitely hang that on my wall.

You struck a funny chord there. Good on you for implying three ways. One way meaning there's too much energy overall, and the other way is that there's too much energy in one singular component. Normally, my art style is purely expressionism with a hint of abstract. Nothing else. This however, was a departure since there was a subject matter involved.

Of course there's the third representation to literally shut off / unplug.

I see Mojo Jojo.

@mikeeegeee: Bubble Bobble is one of my unspoken favorite games. Put yourself out there duder, and paint. It's usually quite rewarding for the soul.

Earthworm Jim VS. The Devil? Always bet on Earthworm.

Its all about the composition and the paint man. Like, the medium is the message man, know what I'm saying?

Btw, I like it. Though I'm not a big fan of modernist art or dadaism, still pretty cool though.

I like the part where Bomberman wearing cat ears is stabbing a planet.

#17 Posted by DeadeyeMcCoy (249 posts) -

I see a shark fleeing from the giant head of Judge Dredd.

Is the bomb beating back things or absorbing?

#19 Posted by Vuud (1943 posts) -

I see Tingle humping a bowling ball.

Is there something wrong with me?

I'm seeing deep, thick jungle.

Deep, thick fever dreams whilst being in deep, thick jungle.

Crows, or some other type of hellish bird flocking to the right side of the picture in order to devour the dark heart of man.

Thanks to everyone who's left feedback and for the laughs! Leaning towards calling it done.

Will post some more pics sometime this week. Will try to get a decent cropped 16:9 1080p shot, but lighting will be difficult.

A rich person would pay a lot of money for this.

This looks great! It captures the playful aggression that permeates throughout Giantbomb.

Or maybe it is Mojo JoJo.

Always considered Giant Bomb to be progressive aggressive. That in its self is a similarity with Mojo JoJo.

Only subject matter was Giant Bomb, everything else is subjective to the viewer and a representation of the subconscious.

I'm around a lot of woods in NY so there's been a huge contrast between the trees and snow here. Maybe that has something to do the abstract structure created through the subconscious.

Hey!

I think this looks interesting! Have you thought about going even more Polloc tho ?
Some splashes / streaks of red, and maybe some very few spatters of yellow could be cool. Borrowing its colors from the GB logo.
Example

Maybe not as dense as this, but it might make it even more interesting.

Just my 2 cents :)

Nice work!

I see attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.

#37 Posted by Lyisa (324 posts) -

I see a monk gazing upon a dark orb of power, attempting to sway his mind. The monk is failing to resist its grasp.

I also see mojo jojo.

Nice work!

Been expanding (and one could argue deconstructing) this painting "Goliath" I've been working on for the last month. It should better fit the Pollock style?

I've been real tempted to add color to <Bomba Gigante>, specifically red, but my gut is saying not to and call it done.

Thanks for the feedback!

What in the world is a BiffMcBlumpkin? A google search gave me a Giant Bomb user profile and no definitive images.

@dudeglove: Sorry it took me a while to respond. Those are some fantastic links to some amazing pictures from the community. Thanks duder.
