4chan can get pretty anomalous. I'm surprised it's still alive and kicking after all these years, but then again, I'm not. I am also guilty of occasionally letting my morbid curiosity of what's going on over there get the best of me, but beyond /b/, it really is not thatthat terrible. Anyway, I'm not even sure what constitutes as "active 4chan user."

they really aren't. The music boards, for example, are too busy shitting on you for your plebeian tastes in music and telling you to listen to neutral milk hotel than to be as bad as /b/ is. I mean, Reddit has it's terrible boards too, so should all redditors die? They are separate boards and they all have their different demographics. the Yuri and Yaoi boards have way more women per userbase than /b/ does, for example.

I'm active on /x/, because every once in awhile you get great art threads or short stories, and it's worth digging through the sillier stuff to get to. Guess that means the world would be better off without me, then, and never mind any other facet of my existence, because I forfeit my humanity by committing the terrible crime of reading some fiction and chuckling at an occasional photo caption.

@Animasta: Old explosives is actually a huge problem in other parts of the world. I believe parts of Middle East (paticularly Afghanistan) encountered this problem a lot with Soviet-era mines, so I'd say there's still a probability that the grenade, as ancient as it looks, might actually still be lethal.
You have a point that it does look a lot more ancient than a soviet-era mine so the probability is definitely lower than the aforementioned case.
Other parts? I live in Monterey, California and we still have to worry about any unexploded munitions in Fort Ord.
@Blackout62: Well, 40 a year die due to Soviet mines in Afghanistan. I'm pretty sure stateside locations aren't that bad in terms of fatalities as we definitely have far superior signage and safety practices than people in Cold War-era/Balkan regions. At the least our military can have some sort of accountability over our ordnance.
For those who suffered occupation by the Soviets or Balkan warlords, there's virtually no accountability for explosives placed in the past and there are barely any governing bodies or a versatile enough military presence to deal with it since all the Soviets and most Balkan warlords (at least those responsible for laying anti-personnel mines) are long gone.

You could not be more wrong about the reasons people go to 4chan. I'm willing to wager that the majority of people who frequent it go to the boards that cater to their interests.
