That's because you are hearing the vibrations of your voice box from inside your head, where as other people are hearing it from out of your mouth. What you hear on an answering machine is what you sound like to the rest of the world, only you hear yourself differently.

Yea after shaving or cutting your hair you look like a different person but the main thing is hearing my voice outside my head its really really weird.

Sometimes when I make faces in the mirror, I notice how much I truly look like my oldest brother. It's pretty crazy. I don't look much like him with a normal face, but with some contorting of the face the resemblance is uncanny.

I heard this before and find it really interesting, I sound fine from me hearing myself speak but if I hear something recorded I sound like a fuck head but I think it's just because I'm not used to it.
