The Twilight Zone.
Fav TV show from before you were born?
Star Trek is up there, absolutely. BBC's Quartermass series, especially Quartermass and the Pit from 1958 is also an favorite, and I have pretty fond memories of Space: 1999 (1975, known as Moonbase Alpha around here), though I haven't really rewatched that since I was a kid. I also remember watching a miniseries edit of the 1971 movie The Andromeda Strain as a kid. The 1981 attempt at making a TV series of The Day of the Triffids is also a favorite.
Doctor Who is a classic too, of course, though I'm more fond of the stuff from the 80's and onwards (not that I can say I've seen all that much of the early stuff, considering not a lot of it has been saved for future generations), and that wasn't before I was born.
Show's I still enjoy today as an adult:
- Monty Python's Flying Circus
- Star Trek
- Twilight Zone
- The Muppet Show
And shows I watched a shit ton as a kid: (most of these were still airing new episodes when I was a kid)
- Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids
- The Electric Company
- Captain Kangaroo
- Schoolhouse Rock!
- You Can't Do That on Television
I'm sure there are more, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head
@cheesebob: nice
Fawlty Towers or Batman Adam West
The Prisoner and Wild Wild West are up there but Trek #1 with a bullet.
I liked that Will Smith movie too.

Nothing. Good, quality tv didn't exist before I did
Away from here, heathen!
Though sure, certain genres, like your HBO-style drama, didn't exist until very recently, if that's somehow the only TV you can enjoy.

Born in 92, and from the very few shows that I have seen from before I was born, I would go with Police Squad as a favourite.
Wow, that's a deep cut. I've never heard of that show, and apparently it was cancelled after 6 episodes? Did your family have it on VHS or something? I never knew that this show was more or less the prequel to the Naked Gun movies.
No I downloaded it. I'm a big fan of Flying High (Airplane) and The Naked Gun - as well as Mel Brooks' movies - that humour is just right up my alley. The Naked Gun uses the tagline 'From the files of Police Squad' and I had wondered what that meant and eventually found out there was a show. It does only go for 6 episodes, unfortunately, but it's really funny and worth getting a hold of if you're into the Zucker (or ZAZ) style.
i spent many an evening as a lad in the late 80s and early 90s watching old shows on Nick at Nite (when it was still just a programming block on Nickelodeon and not its own channel), such as Leave it to Beaver, The Dick van Dyke Show, Dragnet, Get Smart, and Alfred Hitchcock Presents, . Not sure if I would enjoy watching them now as I would question whether at least some of them hold up to a more mature mind's predilections, but I sure did love all that stuff at the time.
I don't have a favorite, there was a lot of great shows before I was born.
The original Twilight Zone
The original Outer Limits
I love Lucy
Looney Tunes
The honeymooners
Gilligan's Island
Basically whatever they showed on the sci fi channel and Nick at night all the time during the 80s and 90s.
I would have voted Adam West Batman, but then I was like 14 when Bruce Timm's Batman Animated series came out. Star Trek would have been there, but then I was alive when Next Gen came out and original series is everything gets solved at the end of the episode and no character is on par with Worf or Riker. Like the first part of Best of Both worlds you can see Riker's faults and how he looses Picard and trying to retrieve him. These are shows, I'd probably would have said are my favorite but that's because they are lighthearted fun, but I'm happy with the stuff I'm seeing now. Modern Family, 2013 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Gravity Falls, Colbert Report and Parks and Recerations
Columbo
Good man.
I watch a lot of movies and listen to a lot of music from before I was born (1985), but TV is a bit trickier. Older shows I've returned to a few times include Rocky and Bullwinkle, live action Batman, The Flintsones, The Jetsons, I Love Lucy, The Super Friends, Spiderman, The Muppet Show, Monty Python, The Twilight Zone, The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show.
I haven't really watched that many tv shows that are older than me, but Twin Peaks started before I was born and I like that so that's my answer.
I also have a little soft spot for Moonlighting, even though it haven't aged that well. The show is extremely 80's, but what the heck it's good fun and Bruce Willis actually seemed to have fun.
Well if animated tv shows count I could go on and on. I think I just stick with live action.
Twin Peaks began two years before I was born and Batman the animated series began a month before I was born.
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
I first saw this and thought 'Man, I'm old if this was before your time' then I looked and damn, 1990 it started. That show is 23 years old and still funny and relevant to this day!
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
This makes me feel sad. Time is a harsh mistress.
Anyway, The Dick Van Dyke Show from 1961 to 1966. Probably, my favorite comedy series regardless of time.
@aegon: That doesn't count.
