That's more or less my deal, too. I wave or say hello unless they stick their hand out, then I'll shake their hand because I don't want to be rude.

I'm an adult. So when I meet another adult I shake his or her hand.

I much prefer the fist bump because I think the whole "Judge a man by his handshake" thing is fucking retarded. If the person I'm meeting is older I'll give them the ol' handshake and look 'em square in the eye deal, but I think the fact that we've yet to evolve beyond that is fucking stupid. Otherwise I'll fist bump or dap them up, it took me like 6 months to even get the dap down. I still look horrifically white doing it but that's the price you pay when you hang out with a bunch of pothead degenerates.

I do a real proper, firm handshake, unironically. If I'm with friends and they're shooting the shit, I'll go for the proper handshake whenever I can. it's a way to bring class into everyday camaraderie.

In Brazil, it's common to hi-5 and them fist bump, so i usually do that. Shaking hands are more formal.

Handshake, but ironic and over-the-top fistbumps (complete with handsplosion at the end) happen from time to time.

I shake hands because I'm a grown-ass-man.

Shake Hands. I can't remember the last time I met someone that used a fist bump to greet someone. I sure would like to see two serious business men in suits fist bump as a greeting.

I bump my bros. Handshake for everyone else to keep it classy.

Handshakes or high fives. I only ever fist bump people ironically like a hipster.

I usually shake hands with people I'm meeting for the first time, though most times i'd rather try to avoid it because of my constantly sweaty palms. Sweaty palms, sadly, don't lead to great first impressions. But with my "bro's" the problem of high fives vs. fist bumps as a celebratory gesture is more common. They know of my sweaty palms but in triumphant circumstances can accidentally initiate a high five-situation with me and then realise what horrors they're about to embark on and transform it into a fist bump-situation just in time before things start getting dirty.

Handshake. Bumping is for jerks.

i dunno.... i grew up doing the Hand Slap + Fist bump.... guess it's a mexican thing, i wouldn't do it in a business setting though.

Who meets someone and fist bumps them? Seriously, even if you're not classy, pretend you have some.

Handshakes. Myself or my friends don't fist bump. If somebody came at me with a fist bump I'd reciprocate, I have a staunch nobody is left hanging policy. It's my platform for the 2012 election.

Although I absolutely hate when people who handshake and are attempting to rip your damned hand off. People seem to over compensate or be aggressive about something as simple and friendly as a handshake. My father's best friend since high school does this and his hand might as well be a vice grip.
