Well they are both overrated.
Is "Bob's Burgers" the new "The Simpsons"?
How can you compare one of (if not THE) worst animated show in history to the best?
Bob's Burgers is absolute trash.
With how many shitty seasons The Simpsons have had since its golden years, can that show still be considered one of the best animated TV series to date? Bad episodes don't erase or devalue the great episodes the show has had, but at this point the number of terrible seasons vastly outweigh the few good ones.
There will never be another Simpsons.
But Bob's Burgers is good - similar, but still different. And good.
I feel like it's somewhere in between The Simpsons and King of the Hill.
I've only seen about 10 episodes, though.

The Simpsons actually have characters worth a damn, well in the first 10 seasons any way. I could probably name each character in the town and indentify them by more than one characteristic. They all got their episode to shine with in the first 10 seasons.
I would hope, after 10 season, that there would be characters worth a damn that get fleshed out.
This is a pretty unfair comparison right now. Bob's Burgers is too young to be measured against the cultural behemoth that is The Simpsons. That being said, I like Bob's Burgers way more. I never really "got" the Simpsons.
I thought the same thing after I went through every episode available on Hulu Plus. It took me a few episodes, but those characters are developed so goddamn well. It's fucking insane how good of a job has been done with that show. It definitely has that same feeling that The Simpsons did when it first came out (which makes me feel old in saying "I remember when that show launched and the controversy that surrounded it").
So yeah, I can agree with that sentiment. The only difference is that I don't see this show turning into some annoying slobber after six seasons.
Very few animated comedy shows match the Simpsons in their prime (seasons 3 - 8). South Park is the one that I would say has come the closest, but they're audience isn't nearly as diverse as the one the Simpsons reached.

Or an annoying marketing tool (Bart is extreme, don't have a cow man). Now get the hell away from my Butterfinger.
theres some really great things about Bob's Burgers, BUT there's some really great things about Archer too. which Jon Benjamin joint do i pick???? :(
granted they're more different than Bob's Burgers and klassic Simpsons are, but w/e i live to compare apples and oranges dammit!
@ripelivejam: Did you...did you just say klassic Simpsons? Whatever, Ed Boon.
It's not as good as The Simpsons was in it's prime, but I will agree it has similarities. It's still adult, but without trying to be totally random or offensive like Family Guy and Archer (not that they offend me, they just try too hard lately and end up lame).
@jdh5153: Really? Way worse animated shows on TV right now. Even on the same damn channel.

Dude, I know plenty of fringe facts about the Simpsons, but I am not a die-hard fan. I still plan on buying the first few season DVDs, though. Anyway, that reference is here: ---------
And here's my head: :|
