and I want more! Any books that are simular? I heard 'Snow Crash' is pretty good. Giantbomb book club anyone?
Just finished 'Ready Player One'...
Haven't read Snow Crash yet but I found the Neal Stephenson books I have read to be very enjoyable, so sure. Go for it.
I feel so out of place when people post here what they've read or for recommendations. I only read fantasy novels in the vein of Drizzt and such and feel that I need to "broaden" my library to feel intelligent.
I recently got a copy of Cloud Atlas and so far it's pretty good. The story does jump around...a LOT so be warned.
The Ready Player One audiobook is worth it for Will Wheaton's read alone. He killed it.

Aren't they making that into a movie?
What is it about? I wikid it but it didn't really make sense.
Just going off wikipedia pages here, but the Otherland series seems like it might be similar. Has the whole running around in a virtual world vibe.

How does he handle his "cameo" in the book?
Plays it straight. He's only mentioned for like half a second.

I'm so far clueless. The book jumps very abruptly between characters, which are separated centuries apart. It feels like a not horrible version of The Fountain.
@EricFine:
Read Snow Crash. If you're into that, read Cryptonomicon. If you're into that, read Quicksilver.
Stephenson's novels get crazier and crazier to newer they are.

Read Snow Crash ;)
Buy if you're into R.A. Salvatore's style, maybe check out State of Decay by James Knapp.
Whether you love or hate either of those, I'm sure the duders here can recommend something else.
Ben Reeves from GameInformer just published a murder mystery thingy. I think it's Kill Screen.
@Ravenlight: Cool, I appreciate the recommendations. I've got like (15?) Audible credits bottled up so I'll try out State of Decay on Audio-book :D

@jerseyscum: So like.... Crash. But x's 100.
That sounds confusing.
It's not really like Crash which is kinda the worst. I'm reading it too and would actually say it's better the less you know going into it. It's jumps in time/characters are also jumps through genres/styles of writing and it's pretty exhilarating seeing his writing change from section to section. I wouldn't call it confusing. Certainly more straightforward than stuff like Pynchon, Joyce or Faulkner.

That's very funny because the trailer kind of looks like a The Fountain downgrade.

I've read the first three (I think) books in that series. It's very rich and detailed. Each book is like a 1000+ pages, if I remember correctly. There seem to be a shit load of references I missed though. I'd say it's more fantasy than scifi/cyber thriller.
Also, the Otherland MMO
