Well, first off...Megan Fox is still amazing. Secondly, I fear I'm going walk away mixed up by the confusing combination of 2nd grade juvenile comic relief and the darker violent action sequences...again. I really liked parts of the 1st film and detested other parts. If the sequel follows that road again, I'll probably check it out on blu-ray eventually but I won't make a point to see it as soon as possible or buy a copy of the film.
They ran with the stupid humour of the last movie again. *sigh*.
For me, the worst thing about the original Transformers (and I mean the animated TV series/movie of the 80's) was Spike, Daniel and the other human characters. It boggles my mind to think why they thought it would be a good idea to have MORE of a focus on human characters in the real-life action movies. Particularly opting to take an embarassingly bad "humour" route. Bumblebee crying? Oh purr-lease.
Once again, The Transformers are devoid of personality and their designs are all nearly identical. *sigh*.
Guess I'll stick to the 80's animated movie, you know, the PROPER one.
The Onion would like to have a word with you regarding Michael Bay.
I think by diverting from the actual storyline with bad humour they actually aren't sticking to the source material. It could be an amazing film if they had just made the 80's cartoon film. Emotionally resonate characters, brilliant dialogue and classic humour. Maybe it would have been pandering too much to fans but they could easily transfer that story to Earth. Some minor adjustments to the story would serve and everyone would be happy.
I suppose I'm being a bit too critical. It doesn't look too bad. Shia is damn hot but honestly, two hot actors won't distract from bad writing. The CGI is impressive however and I do love how they've done most of the characters. (Wtf was Megatron bigger than Optimus Prime and why did he transform into some time of X-Wing monstrosity?) Aside from the complaints that most fans will have, this film could be way worse.
