It leaked to the internet the other day, a whopping month before the scheduled release. Has anyone heard it yet and what do you think about it? I'm two tracks in so far and the second track "Made of Stone" was really good.

I'm going to avoid it as hard as I can.

this is what the world needs now.

I'd like to give it to Amy Lee as hard as I can. But seriously, why do you think that? 'Fallen' is great and their second album was pretty underrated I felt.
#5 Posted by MrKlorox (11082 posts) - 1 year, 8 months ago

Because I like metal.

Heard the first single. It sucked balls. I so miss Ben Moody's songs. What You Want sounded like a cheap Gaga parody(although to be fair, Gaga now sounds like a parody of herself). As much as I absolutely adore Amy Lee's voice and vocal talent, that is not my style of music. I'll be sticking with We Are The Fallen unless the rest of the new album is markedly different from the first song.

It's funny you say that cause Ben Moody released an album yesterday that you can download for the price of FREE. It's only available for 48 hours though so download now. Hopefully it's better than his last album which was 99% boring slow stuff.

You ever heard of Hail The Villain? They're alternative metal mixed with hard rock.

@Mike512 You sir, are awesome. That's greatly appreciated.

@Mike512:

I'm actually in the video for "What You Want". My girlfriend got selected for the casting call, and I went along with her. We have autographed 8X10s, I had an odd interaction with Amy on stage, and I'm in the front rows for most of the shots.

The fact this band still exists with a sizable fan base is unreal.

Having been around 200 of those nutjobs, I can safely say that the band has a lot of pale people by the balls. Pale people who wears lots and lots of black.

I'm going to have to agree... not a fan.

Don't you get it? They're mutually exclusive, Evanescence and metal.

Anyways, I haven't heard it but I certainly wouldn't mind. I was never particularly into them but enjoyed their stuff enough to get a few songs. Now that I think about it, they haven't been around for a while have they?
#14 Posted by Subjugation (4332 posts) - 1 year, 8 months ago

Is this where I make fun of Nickelback?

#15 Posted by HandsomeDead (11863 posts) - 1 year, 8 months ago
@Bruce: How old were these people? I'm pale and wear lots of black also, but I stopped listening to Evanescence when I stopped being like 15. I suppose there isn't really an age limit on the kind of music you should listen to but bands like this, Linkin Park and their ilk always bamboozle me when I find them being listened to by people who are ostensibly adults.

@HandsomeDead:

At the shoot, which took place in a warehouse in the middle of nowhere, most of them were probably in my age range: 21-25. However, there were quite a few middle-aged people, teens, etc.

They weren't letting anyone in without state I.D., so everyone was over 18.

Yes, there really isn't a age limit to music. Some genres there maybe, but that's up to the individuals on whether or not they decide to continue to listen.

I mean, you would THINK they would outgrow some certain artists since they're usually aimed towards the younger demographic, but some people continue to stick around to listen to at least their old stuff when they were around that demographic age.

Also I vastly prefer their first album, though who doesn't. Evanescence seems more of a one man band last I recalled, with Amy being one of the original band member left, though I don't know if that's true or not.

The only time I have ever enjoyed Evanescence was in this episode of The Office.

Will Ferrell doing his juggling routine, without the balls, was the funniest thing in that episode.

I was way into Evanescence when I was like, 13.

@Meteora:

I'm not a fan, but having experienced the "band" like that, I was left with a bunch of criticisms---but I genuinely had fun doing it. Watching interviews of the "band" -- more like, Amy -- was subsequently infuriating because they really believe that their type of rock is bringing back something that music had lost. It just seemed ignorant to me, but their fans don't seem to care.

Their demo album was good, but it was pretty much their only good album .. kind of sad.

#22 Posted by PeasantAbuse (4777 posts) - 1 year, 8 months ago

I saw someone with a Evanescence bumper sticker at my old high school last year, it took me by surprise.

Also, I do not enjoy this band.

Music is like that. You listen to whatever popular band and you get criticised. That's why I hate discussing about music because everyone's views on music is very narrow and sometimes outright elitist or centric on their own views on music.

And yes, bands tend to do that. I don't really agree with whatever they say nowadays, they seem all the same to me.

I actually kinda agree with that.

They haven't put out any new material in what? Five years?
#25 Posted by bartok (2371 posts) - 1 year, 8 months ago

Didn't Evanescence start out as Christian Rock?  They became big when I was going through my Indie Rock and Classic Punk Rock phase though like a year earlier I would of killed to see them touring with Godsmack, Incubus, or Puddle of Mudd.

Evanescence is such a great word, but they took it and got popular, and now you can never use that word without someone associating it with the band.  I kind of hate them for that.

Ugh, Daredevil was enough to ensure that I'll never intentionally listen to a song of their's.

#30 Posted by Mike512 (209 posts) - 1 year, 8 months ago

The album really isn't that good. I think I've listened to 9 tracks so far and I'm not feeling it much on my first listen.

In other news, thanks to the NHL 12 soundtrack, I've discovered the great song "Busy Bein' Born" by this band Middle Class Rut.

FINALLY! A good reason to get my angel wings and self cutting gear from the closet.

I used to be such a big fan of Evanescence in school, but they really never did anything good after Bring me to Life.

I feel like Evanescence is like Chumbawumba. You tell someone you were listening to Evanescence and they never ask, "Which song?"

#34 Posted by GunslingerPanda (4055 posts) - 1 year, 8 months ago

I don't really like them any more, is that chick with the massive face still the lead singer?

Middle Class Rut is pretty damn awesome. Have you not heard "New Low"?

INTERNET MUSIC SNOBBERY STRIKES AGAIN!

#40 Edited by nrh79 (2713 posts) - 1 year, 8 months ago

Dude at work was listening to music on his phone the other day. I asked him what he liked, and he said he liked Lynyrd Skynyrd, Nickelback, etc.; he then played some songs from them. It reminded me of how much (vocal) people who really frequent internet forums and such often have different ideas than people who just kinda work from day to day. Kinda made a friendly jab at him for liking Nickelback. He didn't have the same point of reference a lot of us do. I dislike Nickelback, but I don't really care that he likes them.

It's unholy. They obviously made a pact with the devil. I personally can't stand the lead singer's voice. She sounds like whining cat.

Wow this band still exists, i guess having a female singer and a sea of horny teenage boys as fans helps out a lot.

Some people become fans when they're young and always have a special place for such a band in their hearts after they grow older.

Damn you Avril Lavigne, you sold your soul you pop slut.
