I had that happen, but in a fun way. I was bouncing all about at a bowling alley and slipped. My face hit a computer monitor and the bracket tore off immediately. That was fun to explain to my parents.

I had braces from 4th to 8th grade, those bastards.  My brackets never broke off but my wires would pop out so much.  My dad would have to dig into my mouth to fit it back in, ah memories.
