Not any topics. Sorry I should have been more specific.
Giantbomb should allow any topic within reason.
For example no porn, no over the top trolling, no racism, and no instructions on anything illegal...
You get my point.

@JeffGoldblum: That's pretty much how things are...right? Have you checked out the FAQ?

I know. I like how things are.
I guess a better post would have been I completely agree with Giantbomb's rules regarding the forums.

@pirate_republic: Right, because that isn't a bias Americanized opinion right there. Don't be an idiot. Both are terrible acts of cold and cruel contempt towards human life. If you honestly fucking think that celebration of the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of civilians is up for debate, the same goes for ALL such acts.

What you're talking about is justification from a certain side for the actions. The 9/11 attacks could just as easily be justified from a side (that side being that of Islamist extremism).

Just to clarify I didn't make this thread in regards to wanting the rules to change. I just wanted an opinion from people on whether some of the stuff people post should be allowed to be posted or not.

While they are great resources for those that need them ive always felt that if you need to read and check these sorts of things then you generally have no buisness in that place in the first place. But thats mostly because I'm a fan of self-moderation rather than outside moderation, sadly though its needed sometimes but one can hope ;)

You let your six year old son on the internet??!?
Do you realize that no matter where you are on the internet, you're never more than three clicks away from a woman sucking off a horse?

Thats if your trying to find a woman sucking off a horse but ive always beleived that its easier to find porn by looking for what you actually want than there is by actually looking for porn lol

I'd really ban people on the basis of their overall stupidity, not stupidity of the topics they post in. If someone makes a thread that is uttterly moronic, just talk to him. There will be a breaking point in which you'll realise if he is a troll or a guy with weird opinions.

1) I'm not American, and I actually disagree with much that the US has done.
2) I do not condone the slaughter of humans: as stated, I merely believe it was the right course of action in the context of the time. Nothing in war is moral.

Japan was given multiple chances to surrender: one before the bombs, and one after the first bomb. Like I mentioned, Japan was irrationally devoted to killing, developing chemical weapons, and taking over other countries at the time: many lives were potentially saved because of the bombs, as cruel and murderous as they were. If that was the case, would you have been in favor of the bombs?

Once again your taking away peoples freedom of speech. I say instead of being the bad guy and moderating all religious and politic discussions. Give everyone the right. Everyone stays happy and keeps coming to the site and not end up leaving.

No, nein, non,ni.
Totally crazy idea! Oh no someone said something offensive or controversial, I have to go and shit my pants now. Either everything is ok to talk about or nothing is.
Never give in to people who are offended.Everyone should say what they believe to be true.
If you belive that in a religion whose priesthood believes that homosexuality is evil.It is our duty to offend you. If you want to wipe out Israel with nuclear weapons it is our duty to offend you.If you believe that a woman who has been raped should be given 200 lashes for allowing herself to be in the company of someone who is not her husband or related to her, then it is our duty to offend you!

If someone comes to the site is offended by something and is so offended they dont come back...so what I dont want to talk to them boring thin skinned mentally deficient tosspots.
Y'all have fun  now.,
Toodles.

Don't claim to be all for freedom of speech as you call for heavier moderation and restrictions of speech.

Freedom of speech is a great philosophy to consider when running a government, but not necessarily when running a website about video games. I don't think everyone stays happy when the forums are flooded with those threads.

We should be able to talk about whatever and let the community judge what topics are innapropriate, outright banning some subjects would be banning potential for serious disscussions on serious subjects

"
this is ridiculous, If you let your 6 year old son to play with a computer you are damn... well, 6 year old kids should be playing other things outside. And anyways, there are banning systems from many companies such as the telephone company, that ban explicit web-pages.

Jesus fucking christ. I never once said I WANTED moderation. I said I was worried that the moderation may be biased and that if a topic was posted celebrating the 9/11 attacks (for example) that thread might be deleted even though a thread celebrating the nuclear bombings is still going strong. The mods have quelled those fears so I have no issue now. All I really wanted was an opinion on everyone's part as to whether or not they think the forums should be moderating more heavily.

@pirate_republic: Again this isn't about rationale behind the attacks. I'm strictly asking people if they think threads celebrating the calculated and condoned slaughter of human beings (aka. war) should be banned. I'm not asking people if they think debates on history should be allowed (which is what you're talking about).

Seems like many people on this thread completely mis-interpreted what I said. That or I just suck at explaining things haha.

As much as i hate censorship kaosangel's topic there is beyond tasteless. That crap just doesn't belong on Giantbomb.

Though fair to say it's this obnoxious attention grabbing that should be adressed, not the topics itself.
The same topic, (celebrating it aside, thats just bs) could have been adressed in a more tasteful manner & turn into a decent discussion.

There is a fine line between starting a topic for the sake of conversation, and starting a topic for the sake of conversation... and blatantly inciting arguments and anger.  Pretty sure the OP of that post fully knew he was going to be stirring up controversy.

Part of the reason I still visit these forums from time to time is because of how freedom of speech is generally valued here.

I accept that by the rules its fine but I often feel saddened by being reminded that some people want to celebrate national tragedies and the like.

Simmer bro. It's not much of a stretch to see that you're suggesting more moderation. If you didn't want more why make a thread suggesting more moderation?

Going throught this thread, That is one of the best quotes.

We are not mature guy's but thats the point, Although there are a certain few who can make really thoughtfull arguements,
