I just saw Alex's tweet about BABYMETAL. And I have to admit I love it. I have no idea why. Its fascinating. I can't stop listening to it.
For those that haven't heard it yet. Prepare yourself.
@brodehouse: Exactly!
This is what it feels like when I'm drunk and trying to comprehend what my friends are talking about. Or it is a nightmare from which none of us can escape.
I knew about Baby Metal before it was cool.
Yep. They also have better songs than this one.
Huh. Well, it's been interesting to learn that merging the two worst genres of music hasn't resulted in a sum that's any worse than its parts.
I really, deep in my soul deep, want to hate this.
But I can't
I feel exactly the opposite. I really want to like this. But I can't
Also, without understanding a single word, I feel like this consists of a single verse and the chorus? But maybe that's common for metal? (I don't listen to much metal)

Depends on the metal you're listening to.
I'm not much of a musician, but this doesn't sound like anything particularly good. I'm not sure if I'm sorry it exists or not. It's both annoying and delightful in equal measure.
I have heard the name "BabyMetal" before. I think I heard it in some Top 10 J-pop songs thread at the end of 2013? Anyway, this might even be the same song, and my reaction is pretty much the same. It sucks. It's entertaining for about four minutes. I'd like it a lot more if the super high pitched shit right before the chorus disappeared.
And at the end of the day, I've got Arch Enemy for my female-fronted metal band needs.
EDIT: Also, to note, combining pop with metal is possible. A Day To Remember did it, though last I checked they had started to sound a lot like a lot of other sorta-not-really-punk bands.
I'm glad there is a thread for this. I don't do twitter or anything, and in the past I have gone to the members homepage to say something, but I never feel correct about that. Last time I PM'd a staff guy, but that felt weird too, though he was good about it and responded..
Sooo. Baby metal, listened to "I like chocolate' or something like.
True art! You know, like that crucifix upside down in urine a decade or 2 back on display. Well no, this had a sense of humor. And the girls(they be girls right?) were pretty. About all I can come up with. I don't think I am going to be a repeat offender and listen to any more.
I don't think it's that great and interestingly I usually find stuff Japan does with music interesting but this doesn't work for me.
I mean I like the slipknot like riffs in between but it's like its mixed with J-Pop or whatever and it doesn't mix well for me.
I still prefer School of Rock over something like this but at the same time I'm also ok this exists.
A challenger appears!
Jesus Christ.
I pretty much knew what she was going to do when I started the video, but it's still terrifying, even for someone who has listened to his fair share of the more extreme forms of metal.
Also, that guy that isn't Howie Mandel is definitely right in saying that she should watch her vocal cords, that can cause some serious damage.
@believer258: haha. That was Howard Stern.
I do love that he's "that guy that isn't Howie Mandel" - I am serious as I am not a Stern fan at all and seeing the worlds most famous shock jock now reduced to that makes me smile a little bit. =)
I think they're pretty good, mostly because the part that makes it "metal" is done pretty decently and I've always liked when people do weird genre jumps, so doing metal with japanese pop vocals is just downright fun. I don't even remember when I heard about them first, but it was a while ago.
Yeah the chorus is pretty damn catchy and has a big sound. The rest of it is pretty bad. It is the reason I like this song:
@flacracker: Well that's also because Blind Guardian is shit minus two or three songs on Follow the Blind. Anticipating anything great from them is a huge mistake.

I wont argue with you. Nightfall in Middle Earth is the only album of theirs I have actually listened to. I really like dat chorus doe.
Yep. Saw this after @aurahack RT'ed it. He gave me some links to some more goodies. I totally un-ironically love this. Its the most interesting thing to be done with anything relating to metal in years. Although not surprising I like this there are a bunch of metal/rock Vocaloid mashups I've heard that I really like way before I heard this tonight.
Actually, I was in a bit of a sour mood earlier. This legitimately put me in a better mood.
Edit: Also this is probably their best song I've heard so far.
