Hello, favourite cyber internet community on the electronic web. I'm updating my (almost completely ignored) blog with another poem about another abstraction. (I'm into that shit for some reason, so fuck off). Anyways, this one came about after reading the opinions of several different atheists on the concept of death and the concept of the end of the world; the voice in this poem is that of a person living in a world where his/her death is the end of existence itself. It's called "Mercy, or the rape of Entropy"

Compositions with black outlines

Compartmentalize our world

Awaken and pull the ceiling inward

Awareness is its own gravitation

Incursive margins

Inclusive absence

Dissolution uninhibited

Disintegration unambiguous

Eschatology, pre-written eulogies

Escapism is the gilt road

Beneath the potential energy of the world itself

Benefactors exploiting beneficiaries

Universes in hands

Unity zeroed in arms

Possibilities assayed

Posthumously distilled

Teetotalers of experience

Teetering on edges

Wealth immolated

Warmth our dividend

Fumbling with the keys to the bomb shelter

Furtive, listening for the penultimate note

Nests mistaken for turrets

Necessities and renumeration

Solopsis as thesis

Sold on annihilation

Heed blankness

Heat dissipates

Distilled humous?

I think that means distilled after death. But does that make any sense?

As I said in the little preamble thingy, this poem is based on the notion that 'the world ends with you' if you will. Solopsis is the notion that the only entity one can really be certain of is one's self. So the idea here is that, if that is the case, then a person this out of touch with reality would perceive their own mortality as the universe's mortality.

It's poetry, not every phrase is going to make sense in a vacuum. Poetry is about playing with words, piecing them together in different ways, based on different aesthetic choices. I'm sorry you think you need to understand it, but poetry (at least my poetry) isn't about separating those who 'understand' from those who don't, but acknowledging that everyone who reads it will have a different interpretation of what's being said, and some will come away apathetic

Well I didn't think it's about seperating the ones who understand from the ones who don't but it has to make at least some sense to me. Because it doesn't it means I fail to interpret it due to my lack of cognitive ability. In this particular case I guess this lack stems from inadequate skill regarding the english language on my part ;)
