I didn't know that this major part of the internet was so young! It's like a little sibling for me; I basically grew up alongside it when my family got our first computer in the mid-90s.
It's been a hell of a ride. I still remember when I got Internet access in my home for the first time. It went something like this: "I like video games. Let's try videogames.com" And that, ladies and gentleman, is the reason why I'm here today, on Giant Bomb.
The internet is a scam. You pay for a domain, those people pay to register blocks of ip addresses and register the domain, and those people pay an international regulator... The same type of regulation that everyone doesn't want.
The real internet is underground.
Essentially... the internet just doesn't understand.
I remember my first modem. it was a little smaller than your average adult shoe box, and had a blinking array of lights on the front of it that would go wild every time I connected to my local BBS.

Remember whitehouse.com? Good times we had in school with that one. Or the world wrestling federation and the world wildlife foundation having spats about using WWF.com (I always ended up accidentaly on world wildlife page and meant to be at wrestling). I miss those days of early computing.
