Them Crooked Vultures :P
What three/four/five musicians would make your "best band ever"? (2009)
Them Crooked Vultures :P
I literally came in here and went "Oh, that's easy. Joshua Homme on Guitar/Vocals, Dave Grohl on drums and... Wait... Hold up."

I've been listening to the album again recently and it's still so damn good. Here's hoping for number two sometime soon/ever!!
For good music:
Noah Lennox (Panda Bear) - Vocals, Guitars, electronics.
Fuck Buttons - Electronics, Vocals
For freakout music:
Brian Chippendale, Greg Saunier, Tatsuya Yoshida - all on Drums and vocals
For Think-y Music
John Wiese: Electronics
Pete Swanson: Electronics
Vocals: Chris Cornell
Guitar: Mark Knopfler
Guitar 2: Slash
Bass: Lemmy Kilmister (yes, I'm resurrecting him for this hypothetical)
Drums: Dave Grohl
Vocals - Demon Kogure (Seikima-II)
Lead Guitar - Michael Schenker (UFO & MSG)
Lead Guitar 2 - Akio Shimizu (Anthem)
Lead Guitar 3 - Circuit V. Panther (Sex Machineguns)
Bass - Steve Harris (Iron Maiden)
Synth - Janne Wirman (Children Of Bodom)
Drums - Yoshiki Hayashi (X)
I'm pretty sure this band would not work but it would be fun to see what would happen.
EDIT: Also, this is an 8 year old thread. :)
Gorillaz + Run the Jewels.
Each has enough variety in their music that they could come up with some really unique stuff I think.
I can't think of a "super group" that managed to live up to the material of its individual constituents. The Travelling Willburys are just about the only one I think are worth listening to at all, and even then I'd rather listen to some Bob Dylan or Roy Orbison.
Synths- Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails)
Synths- Flatlander (Death Grips)
Drums- Zach Hill (Death Grips)
Guitar- Jimi Hendrix
Guitar - Adam Jones (Tool)
Bass- Les Claypool (Primus)
Man, thinking about this makes me sad that it could never happen.
Vocals: Trevor Strnad (The Black Dahlia Murder)
Lead guitar: Micheal Keene (The Faceless)
Rhythm guitar: Christian Münzner (formally with Necrophagist and Obscura but still with Spawn of Possession)
Bass guitar: Dominic "Forest" Lapointe (formally with Beyond Creation)
Drums: Steve Flynn (Atheist)
I'm a tech death guy, so, go figure.
Take the members of Them Crooked Vultures (Josh Homme, Dave Grohl, John Paul Jones) and add the Floyd's David Gilmour. Just make sure David's wife Polly never writes any of the songs. And just to make sure David and Josh don't get into any fights over who is singing, bring in Paul Frees as lead vocals
Let me just make sure...
Yep, this thread has enough Dave Grohl that all my concerns are aired. Carry on.
Kyle Gass Band combined with the Black Keys and you pretty much have me at every show humanly possible.
That or an xx/Daft Punk mashup album.
