Kid Rock started out as a rapper. I've never heard any of it though, as I don't hate myself. 
 
 
 
There is nothing more authentic than Kid Rock. Authentically trying to find money if every genre of music except Classical. 

You should probably make clear you mean one that has been somewhat 'successful', cos I imagine if you looked through youtube you could find some real bullshit. 
 
My answer would probably be almost every modern 'rapper' and any rapper who has even used Autotune a la T-Pain.

I think Nelly is fine, I'll probably have to go with Soulja Boy, Wocka Flocka Flame or Gucci Mane, off the top of my head, but there are a lot of garbage rappers out there.

Guys like Wacka Flocka Flame and OJ The Juiceman are a special level of bad quality. I have no problem or dislike for gangsta rap, past or present. I actually like acts such as Rick Ross and Lil Wayne. But the lack of lyrical talent OJ and Flame exhibit is mind blowing. Without the help of producers and genuinely good beats, these guys would still be in their parent's house making less money than a burger flipper. This phenomenon happens every couple of years. I still remember telling my friends Young Joc was going nowhere fast. Now he's disappeared as quickly as the imaginary motorcycle dance he brought with him.

i dont see how it gets much worse than soulja boy, he makes one stupid-ass song that gets popular because it has a trendy dance, then he makes 500,000 versions of it and then all his other songs are for laughing at

Everlast, Vanilla Ice, Soulja Boy(even though i've listen too some off his songs a few times...), Snow. Probably many more but I can't really remember any others now.

I can't help but use a success to skill ratio, which puts 50 Cent right up at the top of my list.

i don't even consider Soulja Boy, Gucci, or Waka rappers. they're just performers. if you want something with deep lyricism why would you go there?
their songs are perfect for getting drunk and acting ignorant.

I haven't liked most rap since late 90s or so. There are a few exceptions but sadly a few exceptions don't make up for what is usually successful.

Nelly is fine for what he is. 
 
I guess the worst famous rapper is Lil Jon or anyone else associated with crunk.

Asher Roth and Soulja Boy. I enjoy the Insane Clown Posse, it's fun music. Nothing more, nothing less. Early Kid Rock is kind of terrible, especially on the song Is That You? by ICP, he has a verse. He drops the n word.

Here's a fun fact: Every time someone says something along the lines "...better than any of that mainstream crap", I want to punch them in the head.  
 
Also, Soulja Boy is pretty amazing. Kid is very funny and one hell of an entrepreneur.
