@NecroMongo: No I understand aesthetic exploration, subversive affirmation and I understand provocation, if a smart artist doesn't try that once in their career, give up. Let me just say at times it walks a fine line. Like True Norwegian Black Metal, some bands did it as pure aesthetic provocation and its more 'metal' than the other... etc and some were just idiots that didn't get it and took it too far.
One of my favorite hardcore bands Fucked Up released a split 7" with Haymaker. The cover is of a Hitler youth rally. They did other covers involving other totalitarian imagery. Boy did that gone down well.

Dammit by Blink 182, Welcome Home by Metallica, Foundations by Kate Nash... I'm kinda all over the place with favorite songs but those are some that stand out.
The weird thing is that I really don't like any of their other songs and I mostly listen to metal.
