PS4 Box design

It says Black on the front and side. Does that mean there will be other colours available off the bat?

Probably not at launch but later on. Not to mention Limited Editions.

Vertical stands are overrated. What this thing needs is a horizontal stand!!

@mattyftm: As a barbarian who keeps my consoles on a thing meant for being a flat surface for a laptop going on your lap (PS3) and a board of wood (360) on the floor, I agree.

You, Sir, do not know "where it's at"... give me diagonal or forget it.

The PS4 doesn't have the slant, I don't think this is official, it's a rhombus, not a rectangle.

@rokkaku: You wouldn't really be able to see the slant from the angle shown though. There are plenty of pictures that have been uploaded where the PS4 just looks like a rectangle.

@strife777: I bet it will prob. come with the stand, no reason for it not to, especially if it has it on the box :D

Isn't it...a blue box? Actually, was this thread not about the actual box in which the PS4 comes? Now that I look through it, I think I'm the only one treating it that way...

I believe he did say that. Not to mention Sony's recent history of displaying a system w/ stand on the box and not actually including the stand. (Most recent PS3 model.) I'd say probably no stand included, but that's just me.

Yeah, it's never been included. They've been showing the systems vertically on the boxes since the PS2 slim, but they've never included the stand.

@oldguy: Put a PS4 in a entertainment center that's only 3/4 the width of the PS4. Boom, diagonal.

I like the way it looks sitting flat. I like that it is fairly thin. The overall shape kind of reminds me of the outside buildings in the Tyrell Pyramid from Blade Runner.

I remember when Japan got the white ps3. Maybe some day...

Alternate colors will come out in Japan, then Europe and then the U.S. Which sucks ass. My Vita is white so I want a white PS4. Bet that won't be happening though.

Same pink DS3 and Pink 360 controller were the best, always wanted a pink PS3 or 360, but without any other un necessary frills. I always really hated that any pink stuff was always bundled with something else especially feminine.

I don't think you quite get it, I want an upside down stand or nothing, this thing would look amazing hanging from my ceiling.

It's been popping up here and there (link). They say it's an official image from Sony, but I haven't seen the image of the box art on a Sony site yet. Could be a leak or a fake. My guess is it's a leak.

I think it looks silly the way it show only half the controller on the side. I also don't like how it cuts off the picture of the actual console, kinect, and controller on the front. It looks really weird, But I do like the black and white logo and how they divided the front into two different shades kind of like the console itself.

I don't think I've seen that Xbox box shot yet. I think that as far as the colors and the box design goes, it's classy as hell. That grey, black and white layout is seriously sexy. Except that the way they've laid out the shots of the console is hot garbage.

Edit: I just noticed that that's the Day One Edition. I wonder if they'll keep that color scheme for the regular release.

@dot: Aye, the controller on the side looks bad to be sure, but I really like the overall minimalism. They should have had the whole console in view, but considering it has to be horizontal, there's not much they could do to avoid that.

I pre-ordered the Killzone with PS plus Launch day ps4. I'm not standing in line for 24 hours straight again.

I dig the Sony box. Slick design.

Looks slick but was kind of hoping they'd go for the launch box of the PS2, or similar.

That is a console that's going to look fantastic in that kind of ivory white Japan seems to be way into. PS4 is region free, huh? I've already made up mind to import a white model if they're exclusive again.

Well PS3 was region free as well. Blu-ray movies and DVD's are still region locked though.

Is that a blue led in the middle or is that just paint? If it's a LED then it's gonna look really good in a dark room. A silver version of that could be cool.

PS. Is 500GB enough? I know you can change the hard drive but.. Why not go 1TB right away?
