A return to form
GH: Metallica brought what was the mediocre GH; World Tour into new light. this game is so finely tuned for any metallica or even general metal fan, that it is INSANE!!!
Drums:
my personal favorite instrument to play on music games, the drums have been tuned so that the notes are easier to read. for example, instead of a purple bar below the note path for the bass pedal, u have a white line divided by black lines between each note. this is really helpful for distinguishing hand hit notes from foot hit notes. the best addition is the support for 2 bass pedals. when you hit a complicated pattern, you get a rush of fullfillment and glee, you just want to keep playying and playing.
Guitar and Bass:
Not much has changed, if at all, but still, the guitar game is tight providing more solo mayhem and madness in the mix with the fast and heavy tempo. the bass also gets a good treatment from song choice with songs like orion by metallica and Blood and thunder by mastodon.
Singing:
what was not there in GH: World Tour has arrived in GH: Metallica. finally after each verse in the scrolling note path, it tells you how you did singing wise. this is helpful for gauging your performance. other than that, i would like to conclude that i like this singing better than rock bands, only because it gives you a better feeling when succesfully singing inside the lines that rock bands arrow.
Overall:
The presentation is air tight, with menus written by james hetfield and Metallica themed touches everywhere you look. overall it is the best guitar hero since 2, and definently worth the 60$, but some words of advice, make sure you like metal music, because that is just about what 90% of this game is. o yah, and dont make the same mistake i did: dont jump into Dyers Ever on expert+ straight away... owww.
