Hircine is responsible for developing the therianthropic diseases responsible for transforming people into animal-like forms, and is thus the guardian of were-creatures of all kinds, including werewolves. He is infamous for his cruel game called "Hircine's Hunt", in which he captures those he deems worthy, and forces them to battle each other, the victor claiming the "honor" of battling an aspect of Hircine himself. He hosts this hunt once every Era.
The Aspects are:
Hunter's Guile
Hunter's Strength
Hunter's Speed.
Once such occasion of his Hunt, is during the events of The Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon, in which he captured the Nerevarine as a part of his contest. The Nerevarine was successful in defeating all of their opponents (except for Falx Carius whom they sided with), and defeated the Hunter himself in one of his aspects.
Hircine has enchanted a ring as well, known simply as Hircine's Ring, that grants the wearer the ability to transform into a werewolf, without the curse of needing to feed, or being forced to transform. This ring fell into the Nerevarine's hands during the course of the "Hircine's Hunt" quest in Bloodmoon.
