Imperials are the native inhabitants of Cyrodiil, the cosmopolitan heartland of Tamriel. They are generally well-educated and considered more civilized than inhabitants from the other provinces of Tamriel. Despite being physically less imposing than the warrior-like Nords native to the province of Skyrim, or the Redguard from Hammerfell, they have gained a reputation for their martial prowess and military discipline. Their considerable skill with light arms and armour have enabled them to subdue most of Tamriel.
An Imperial, Tiber Septim, conquered and then united Tamriel under the Empire which includes the provinces of Cyrodiil, High Rock, Hammerfell, Skyrim, Summerset Isles, Valenwood, Morrowind, Black Marsh, and Elsweyr. As the empire has grown Imperials have become known as shrewd diplomats and administrators.
