**** you inFAMOUS 2!

OK inFAMOUS 2, your side missions are absolute horse crap. How many times can you make me slide on a rail to chase an enemy, or slide on a rails while trying not to touch the ground, or how many mobs of enemies must I fight, or how many times can I fight the same two mid boss enemies? If you want my to do side quests, that’s fine, but make me do the same quests over and over again is just awful.

People will argue, “they are side quest so I don’t have to do them if I don’t like them;” however, that isn’t really accurate as I need to complete them to unlock more powers that are directly linked to completing side quests.

Sounds like someone is just bitter they can't do the side missions.

I find nothing wrong with them. They are short and sweet and allow a quick diversion.

I like them much better than some of the UGC like for example Magic Carpet Ride
#4 Posted by ArchScabby (5809 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

So have you never played an open world game before or something?

I one star'd that POS >8( The one where you have to fight your way out of a cramped tunnel was OK, but the majority are terrible. Surprising given these are Sucker Punches own.. it's all most likely geared to show you the potential of the missions creator. Or the ineptitude.. if the creators of the game can't even make working UGC's.
#6 Posted by ttocs (673 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I tried the UGC for a couple minutes and then stopped. I couldn't figure it out in the couple minutes I allotted to it. I will probably come back after I beat the game and actually try and learn how to do it instead of just pressing buttons.

inFamous has always been a horsecrap game..

so goddamn boring, lifeless and repetitive

#8 Posted by Marcsman (2278 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I would be done with them entirely but I want my second inFamous platinum.
Yeah I one starred that POS too. I have seen worse which is sad.
There is one called Prank. I have no idea what to do in it, I think it's a prank UGC. Another one star POS.

The side missions in this one seem a lot more interesting than the original. I hated the satellite uplink missions in the original, and I'm not ashamed to say it's just because I sucked at them, but I kept trying because I wanted to clear that area of the city.

I'm loving 2 so far, haven't found any side missions that I just couldn't do, and the story as been more interesting by far.

I don't understand your hatred towards this game.  And I really strongly disagree with you on it, and I don't think I'm alone on this either.

I'm sure this is the best possible place for the game to hear you.

#13 Posted by Cwaff (1254 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

Am I the only one enjoying the side missions? I've done about 40 of them so far.

I enjoyed most of the side missions.

I have done like 13 of the side missions and only come across one rail mission so far.

Ehh, I'll probably still be getting this game but after just playing Infamous 1 again, I think I can wait for a price cut.

#20 Posted by PrivateIronTFU (3874 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

What the fuck are you talking about? The side missions are fun compared to most open world games.

#21 Posted by MentalDisruption (1308 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

There are much more repetitive games out there. Trust me.

#22 Posted by HadesTimes (784 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

Yeah, I mean while I've been playing. I've had to remind myself from time to time that this is an open world game and that some things that probably I wouldn't put up with in a regular single player game, I need to here. It's kind of like an MMO without other people. I hope that just doesn't make it worse. :)

#23 Posted by neoepoch (1171 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

There also aren't that many side missions that are repeats of each other, maybe like five each of the ones that actually do repeat.

#24 Posted by Nitrocore (240 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I have to agree with some of you, the side missions are short and sweet, and do what they were created to do, act as a diversion from the main game. As a side note this is a fantastic game, i'm on my second play through and i've only had it since yesterday, God damn electric!.

#25 Posted by blusher (54 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I received Infamous for free as part of Sony's Welcome Back program.  Downloaded it, played for about 30 minutes.  Deleted it from the hard drive.

I agree with guy who said lifeless and boring.

I would say that was how I felt about Prototype and as a result of not finding Prototype terribly interesting or even good looking (not awful, just uninspiring or interesting), I put off Infamous as long as possible. Even though it's essentially the same game as Prototype, it is absolutely the superior. Infamous 2 takes a good game and seriously improves on it. I finished Infamous 2 in two sittings and became a big fan.

I can't say it's worth $60 for the average person (I buy a lot of games, so it's not a big deal), but I would definitely say people should give it a chance at $20, some day.

Here's the real question: are the side missions better than those of the first game?

I'd say yes, at least more varied

Then I will like this game a whole lot.

I've only done about 30 of them so far, but they're really not that bad at all. In fact I think there's a nice number of variety to them, especially when you compare it to the previous game.

#32 Posted by Bloodgraiv3 (2679 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I don't mind them, they're a nice distraction.

First Island only got two side mission with rail-hunting. And they're extreamly short and easy compared to infamous 1. On other notes I really like the side missions they're short and action packed which is great. The evil and good ones doesn't make a whole lot of sense tho, since you pretty much do the same thing in both.. since when is hunting down another militia camp evil?

#35 Posted by MancombSeepgood (309 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago

I felt the side missions were mostly recycled too, but I didn't mind. They always had different settings and sometimes, different enemies and besides, each one took like, what, five minutes for a long one? Really, it wasn't a big deal and was a good way of earning XP for new powers.

Yes he has. Why can't you be more grateful for one of the most unique new IPs of this generation. And I also disagree with the OP the side missions have plenty of variety.
