The game is now just called Insurgency and you can find it on Steam. It is being released for real today. If you have played the original Insurgency mod for then you will know how this plays. If not, well maybe you have played the Red Orchestra games. The game is not trying to be a sim but it is fairly realistic. One bullet can down you pretty easily. The guns feel fantastic and their sound design is superb too. The game is just intense and palpable. One knock against it is that right now the player base is kind of small. Hopefully it will pick up when the game is fully released. Go try it out, especially if you enjoyed the mod.

Just picked this up. Got a huge list of games to chew through first but I'm gonna put some time into it this weekend to break things up.

Well I did play Rising Storm/Red Orchestra so I probably know people who might dig Insurgency. Never really got into it though so I'll probably just refer the game to my buddies to try out.

I think I got this confused with that Takedown game but I saw some footage before and it looks reallllllly similar to Red Orchestra so now I must have it

I played the mod a fair bit back in the day, if this is that but more polished I'm actually kinda intrigued. Now if only the funds would be deposited in my account, when the bank is slow it makes me want to stab kittens.

It is actually really fun - the realistic modes are very tense.

You don't even know when you actually kill an enemy a lot of the time.

Does it still have that cool aiming mechanic?

Oh cool, I remember trying out the mod way back when. It was neat but not particularly enticing. Nice to see them get enough support to put out a product.

I played that mod until I couldn't find full servers anymore, same with the original Chivalry mod. Hope this turns out as well and that did.
