Jack Tretton is known for his humorous and down-to-earth presentations, and has hosted the annual E3 press conference for Sony since 2007.
Jack Tretton has over 25 years of experience in the gaming industry. He graduated from Providence College in Rhode Island. Tretton first started out in the electronics business by working as a territory manger for battery manufacturer, Duracell from 1983-1985. Tretton later became Vice President of sales at Activision from 1986-1991. He moved on to become the General Manager of JVC's Musical Industries' game division from 1991-1995.
Jack Tretton joined Sony Corporation in march 1995 and later became a key member of the team which founded the PlayStation brand. He was a major influence in the development and publishing of the PlayStation (PS1), PlayStation 2 (PS2), and PlayStation 3 (PS3) video game consoles, and also Sony's first foray into the handheld market with the PlayStation Portable (PSP) and its successer, the Playstation Vita. Tretton was promoted to president and Chief Executive officer of Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA).
To the public, Tretton is best known for his position as host for Sony's annual E3 press conference, a task he first was presented in 2007.
On March the 6th 2014 it was announced that Jack Tretton had left his position as president of SCEA following a mutual agreement between himself and Sony. He will be replaced by Shawn Layden.
