I don't know if it's just me but it seems that many people have already forgotten how awesome Killzone 2 is.  I never got it until this past weekend so I'm not really sure how it was when the game launched but it seems that while it does have a pretty healthy online community, it's missing something important that both Call of Duty and Halo has.  The players' willingness to purchase additional maps to get more time out of the game.

As soon as I picked up the game and played a few rounds online, I logged onto PSN and purchased the map pack bundle that was recently released with all 6 maps.  For the price I thought it was very worth it and I figured that many other people would feel the same.  I guess I'm in the minority.  Of all the games I've searched, I have found one game that actually had people playing the map pack and the title of the game was "Trophies & XP."  Yeah it was nice to knock off 2 bronze trophies I was going for but it still seems kind of useless to buy them if no one is actually playing them in some kind of steady rotation.

Have any of you that bought Killzone 2 thrown down the money for the extra maps or have any interest in doing so in the future?  It seems that the best option for most companies is to release everything in one big bundle with a single player addition and perhaps a code for a beta test to really entice people into buying them.  Either that or a ton of people are starting to feel really burned by "Game of the Year" editions coming out 10 months later that include EVERYTHING that people had to buy over that time.  Yeah, I'm still a little bitter about the Gears 2 maps and how I had to pay about $45 for all of them when everything was included in the Game of the Year edition for $40.

They put out too much too quickly after release.  Most gamers don't even play that much, most probably weren't tired of the on disk maps yet.

Additionally this sort of problem always causes itself to be worse.  If few people buy online DLC, even fewer will buy it in the future.

I bought the first 2 map packs, but haven't bought the 3rd.

Because while the game is good, it is two polarizing.  For me, it was not worth the price of admission.  Sure I got something out of the multiplayer fora  few hours, but thats it.  The story sucked balls and they were trying too hard to make us think these dudes cared about each other. Fuck Rico.  Sev was a loswer.  The best character was Naftko, and he gets his ass blown away.  The controls are the real killer.  Seriously, you cannot help but get frustrated with the controls and think  man, in Call of Duty, I dont die because of the controls, I die because i fucked up.  Not so in KZ2.  Making a game more realistic doesnt always mean it will be more fun.

I really wanted to get into killzone 2 but the problem for me is that i don't like how you have to press r3 to zoom. I want a call of duty setup. I also find multi-player to be a but chaotic.

    But seriously, R3?

If someone knows if you can change it then please let me know.

By the way the game didnt come with that many maps in the first place and if they where doing 3 packs one should atleast be free

There is your problem. This isn't Call of Duty. Just because this is a FPS doesn't mean every similar game has to follow CoD. It's a different control scheme. Let go of they way you knew how to play a FPS and learn the new controls. It doesn't matter how much you play as long as you aren't willing to learn something new.

I don't really mind the controls but I too understand when everyone says that it's a bit too chaotic.  I really think they should have put a cap of 16 players per game rather than 32.  Some of the maps are WAY too small to have 32 people on them, throwing grenades and launching rockets.

If friendly fire is turned on it kinda stop  people spaming  grenades and rockets but very few servers have it turned on

Learn something new?  Dude, i just need to learn the gameplay mechanics, not fiddle with the controls. Ok how about this.  In CoD, Halo, Doom, Gears, Half-Life2/TF2, Battlefield, Unreal Tournament, I died because I fucked up, not because the control sticks were laggy.

It's not lag. It's the added concept of weight on your gun. Instead of having a feather light gun, we now have guns that actually take some brawn to handle. Nothing too revolutionary where nobody will get used to. It just takes some understanding to why it feels that way.  Once you understand, then you die because you fucked up, not because of "lag."

    @Fr0Br0:
Yes I know they wanted to add weight, so they add lag.  But as my original post said, this does not make the game more fun even though it makes it more realistic.  Sorry but you are wrong on this one, because this game just is not as fun as it could be.

I'm sure 90% of the people playing the game beg to differ. So no, I'm not "wrong." But I will respect your feelings toward the controls and will also respectfully disagree :)

Because I got sick dealing with lag switcher for months and not seeing GG do anything about it. I heard they banned a lot of users lately so I might just get back into it.

Did you even look in the menu?! You can setup the controls to play exactly like Call of Duty.

Because I'm satisfied with the default maps. I play it every now and again, it just takes a few matches until I get the hang of the controls again, which I think it's a big obstacle for people who just want to shoot dudes. I like the game, but realize that it's not for your typical halo 3 crowd, even though it seems that way.

There was alot of default maps and i never felt the need to buy the dlc, perhaps if they added some single player side missions to the dlc with the map packs, maybe i would have bought one.
