It just doesn't make sense to me.  It's much safer inside the vehicle.  They don't have seats.  The dropships are deployed from those large base ships and they speed down thousands of feet and all they do is sit on top of the roof of a ship exposed to gunfire and everything else in the atmosphere.

Just a nitpick, I can't wait for this game.  I actually thought it was a kinda cool idea and adds to the danger of the situation.

I was thinking the same thing when I watched the intro vids.

And there's such a high chance of just falling off the sides.

That's just the first group, someone has to serve as the cover for the real soldiers.

On top of the aeroplane is the only way to travel. The same is true for any means of transport. Through a clever system of pullies and levers I drive to work from the roof of my car every day.
