Two is better than one, but for $6, more would still be nice.

I think it's safe to say that everyone was/is a little skeptical about Steel and Titanium's hefty price tag of six dollars. I mean, come on, it's two maps. But I'd like to get this out of the way right now: it's totally worth it. Sure, it's only two new maps, but they're incredible new maps (which we'll talk about later), plus three new ranks. It's a little disappointing that no new classes were added, but the new ranks have high requirements that will keep you playing for a long time, since you've no doubt reached General rank by now. There's also some other little goodies thrown in, but you're not buying this for some new badges and ribbons - which frankly I'm not even sure is included - you're buying it for the maps, and believe me, Steel and Titanium delivers, offering what could very well be the game's best maps.

The first of the new maps is Wasteland Bullet, which, surprisingly, doesn't actually take place in the wasteland, but in a tunnel, on a moving train. This map is great for snipers, with plenty of excellent vantage points for landing perfect headshots and lots of crates and walls for cover. It's also good for engineers, though, as there are plenty of great places for turret building, as well as some broken down mounted turrets which can be repaired. Of course, you can still enjoy the map even if you're not into these classes, as it's an extremely frantic and epic map. This is thanks to the fact that the train is always moving, and you have to jump from one side to the next. Mess up the jump and you'll get a face full of metal, or track.

The second map is the Vekta Cruiser. When you first play on this level, trust me, you will be surprised to see that, unlike the rest of the game's dark, grey environments, the Cruiser actually has... wait for it... color! No joke; it's actually got more than green and grey. And it's a great map to boot. It offers multiple layers for fighting on, giving the level a sense of verticality and therefore allowing you to shoot people above or below you. That's something you can't say about the rest of the game's maps, as most of them – while awesome – feel somewhat one-dimensional, with no overhead or underground areas, with the exception of a few buildings and trenches.

The first thing you'll want to do when you enter these new maps is not kill, but explore. These are large maps, with a lot to see and a lot of different routes to take. Not to mention the distinctiveness of the new maps. Naturally, you'll want to see what the levels have to offer, and they offer a lot. They give you the opportunity to try tons of different strategies, and you'll want to try them all, because they're great fun. In fact, the exploration is one of the best parts about the new content.

As mentioned, there's quite a bit of content here, and it's definitely worth the price, but this content still could've benefited from more... well.. content. Two maps isn't much, and while they're cool maps, it's still a big shame that there couldn't have been some extra classes or badges to balance it out more. The content will still last you a while if you're into the whole ranking up thing, and if you're into the whole having fun thing, then it will last you even longer, but another class would be good for more than just the downloadable maps, but for the whole game. Shame.

Nonetheless, this is some quality content that will keep you busy for a long time. The pack doesn't contain a whole lot, but it has just enough longevity to justify the somewhat expensive price. It definitely would've been cool to have seen more maps, or perhaps a new class, because while what's here is good, more is always better. If you're a Killzone 2 fan then you're probably going to buy this regardless of what I say, and if you were skeptical at first, then trust me, Steel and Titanium is worth your money, and your time.
